We had a wonderful time. Lisbon is a great city. Be aware that this apartment is a high point in the general area so be prepared to always be walking downhill whenever exploring and uphill when returning to the apartment. It was a great daily workout. Expect to walk a lot! Pictures of the apartment are exactly as advertised. Very safe neighborhood. Of note, there is construction going on M-F between about 8-4. The men are occasionally seen on the scaffolding across the street and next door. Generally, they were courteous and not looking into the apartment but there are construction sounds during the day. There is a mini market just a couple blocks away, a million restaurants in all directions. We did not rent a car and didn’t need one. We used the metro, got off at the Baixo-Chiado station and walked from there to the apartment. Took the train to Sintra and Cascais. Took the bus to the tile museum. We had a lot of fun, our teenagers enjoyed all the various restaurants. Surf was only 1-2 ft at Carcavelos so we did not go but it’s easily reachable on the train. Would go back for sure!
Our only disappointment was getting home to discover a cleaning fee for the stains we left on the carpet with matching photos. The rugs were dirty with “street grime” but not specifically stained. For those coming after us, be advised that Lisbon is DIRTY. They actually come thru the neighborhood on Wednesdays with hoses and street cleaners to wash the grime and trash away into the sewers. We probably should have rolled up the rug under the dining room table as it looks cute but is a major traffic area and is a pale gray color. We have never been fined in the past, so were very surprised. We may even recall Marta mentioning that the carpets had recently been cleaned. There is no vacuum, no mop, no cleaning supplies and limited paper towels and toilet paper.
Oh well, it is what it is. I also found the communication with Lisbonne Collection to be poor. They answered few questions beyond where to send the money. I had to send multiple emails before getting a response. Marta, who met us at the apartment, was very nice.
