Great location but very disappointing property. Not up to Vrbo’s standard. A neglected property. Great size for a family but needs complete updating. It had safety issues in the kitchen and pool area. We felt the property was greatly overpriced but could be lovely with a new kitchen and bathrooms.

October 2025Visited with childhood friend to celebrate our 70th birthdays. Claudio was very welcoming and gave a lovely tour of the house and gardens. Front gate was a bit tricky to navigate. Gardens are very nice.The location was perfect for traveling around the Algarve. We really enjoyed Carvoeiro.However, the following items are in need of attention (and have been mentioned in the house’s complaints book numerous times, starting in 2018 through 2025):1) Bedding - all sheets are pilled and old - pillows need to be replaced - covers smelled musty2) Air conditioning in child's bedroom is insufficient - no proper venting or adequate cooling. 3) Bathroom in hallway needs faucets replaced - having one cold and one hoy is ridiculous - no way to get warm water.4) amenities that need to be provided include: ice trays, sharp knives, soap in shower, adequate supply of toilet paper5) indoor outdoor chair cushions need to be replaced.6) Outdoor areas need to be power washed and refreshed.7) Entrance gate needs to be replaced - almost scratched car and had difficulty getting it to open every time we left or returned.8) Handle needs to be added to living room slider on the outside.Claudio was very helpful and very responsive.Tres AmigasUSA

Property manager texted us one hour before check in to say if we couldn’t get there by a certain time we would have to wait 2 hours longer. The day of check out out the housekeeper arrived at 8 am and wanted to start cleaning. The AC was off when we arrived. The whole house was musty and the beds were not comfortable. There was road repair directly in front of the driveway entrance making entry and exit extremely difficult. The refrigerator froze everything. The kitchen stove smelled like rancid grease. The sliding doors to the pool area were difficult to open and close. Basically, we were all disappointed with the condition of the villa and find it crazy the place was rated as “exceptional” on the website. The host should be embarrassed to rent the place.

We had a lovely time staying at this Villa. It is well equipped with all the simple home bits and bobs needed for a vacation stay. The pool area is a wonderful place to spend time in the sun and cool off, it's well surrounded by tree's and colourful plants which make it feel secluded and private, no other properties overlook this area. The gardens and pool are well kept and very clean, during our stay the pool cleaners came twice to maintain it, this was a lovely touch, as well as a mid week clean of the house from the cleaner. The roof top terrace is perfect for sea views and watching the sun go down, we did this and it was stunning. The BBQ area is great with plenty of space for outdoor cooking and dinning. The house itself is simple with a few quirks, nothing that would put me off, we spent most of our time outdoors. Despite the house being a little dated in places, it was clean, tidy and very well kept. The gardens surrounding the property are full of vibrant flowers/plants. The location makes this property a great stay, on the quieter side of town and surrounded by great places to eat, we always found great meals within a 10 min stroll of the villa. Communication was excellent on on the lead up to our trip and we were greeted on arrival and shown around the property. We felt very safe and had contact from the hosts during our stay if we needed to ask any questions. We came to spend some time as a family and this villa served us very well. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Nice villa. Claudio very helpful. Garden could be beautiful if it was better kept, needs a gardener. Kitchen well equipped, but a lot of ANTS ! , need restoration. Clean pool, but sun lounges needs replacement and/or new mattresses. Toys for kids, nice touch..Wifi signal very good.AC worked well, beds good, plenty of towels etc. No cleaning lady.

Great location, but could use an update

This property is located close to beaches, the boardwalk and the town of Carvoeiro. But the house could use an update, in terms of furnishings (ex. Pool chair cushions are faded and stained). And the house is set up for a family, as one room has no AC and has Disney decor. We did not travel with kids, so an adult in that room was awkward. Also, we noticed ants in the kitchen. Pool is nice and seemed well maintained.

POOR EXPERIENCE!

We have recently returned from our holiday @ Casa Hibiscus & with regret have to say this Villa falls well short of expectations & Vrbo ratings which we have been unable to resolve directly with the owner. You only need to read the review book in the Villa & the alarm bells start.You feel you have stepped back in time with limited maintenance over many years including a very musty smell, external doors that are secured by sticks, the worst grouted swimming pool tiled area ever, poor oppressive lighting, outdoor mats which are a disgrace, poor & dangerous lighting on outdoor stairs to a scruffy roof top terrace, sun weakened sunbeds & a broken oven not to mention poorly maintained mossy nets---unfortunately the list is endless.The Villa is in desperate need of a cash injection & significant TLC to meet modern day needs.In addition to all this we suffered constant building work next door resulting in a level of noise that meant us needing to go out during the day (the video's we have of this building work leave you in no doubt of what an awful holiday we had but the owner takes no responsibility).The final straw was on leaving the show tap stuck in the on position which for some reason the owner thinks was our fault when it was another example of poor maintenance.I best stop there as l could continue, enough to say I will never be returning & now have doubts about Vrbo who we have used positively in the past?

Great location. Walk to town with excellent restaurants and bars. House was clean and perfect for the 3 nights we were there, but home was a little tired and needed minor things to be fixed (ie: screen doors). Also, probably time time to replace mattresses.

Authentic Portugal stay.

The property is well situated, close to restaurants and the downtown. It is lush property with plenty of privacy. Beautiful view of the ocean from the roof top terrace. A great location to explore the east and west coastal towns. The home is well equipped with everything you need.

Nice house close to the beach & nice town

We had a nice stay at the house. Good pool , airconditioning and wifi. Beautiful garden. Good location. We had a bit of bad luck that the neigbour had Some construction work in the week that we stayer at the house, but that can happen. Overall we had a nice stay. I can recommend the house.

Perfect stay for family!

This villa was EXACTLY as described. The surrounding gardens made it an absolutely magical stay. The beds were comfy, the water was hot, the pool was cool, and the kitchen was perfect for our needs. Really enjoyed exploring and would definitely go back again.

Fabulous stay at Casa Hibiscus

Had a wonderful stay at Casa Hibiscus in Carvoeiro! Home is a short 10 minute walk to town and beaches. It is a bit hilly for folks with mobility issues, but Uber is readily available and is a cheap way to get home from downtown! We rented e-bikes from Nelson at Carvoeiro Bike Rentals in town and had a wonderful tour of the oceanfront. The Casa was exactly how the pictures display. A very quaint Portuguese home with all the amenities you need. The pool which is not heated was a lovely temperature and we were in it everyday. The gardens are beautiful around the home with many flowers and birds. The property manager met us on arrival and was very helpful during our stay. A lovely week was spent at Casa Hibiscus and we would highly recommend this home to others.

Traditional Portuguese Villa

The villa is set in a nice area just outside of Town, close enough to be able to walk there and the main beach/restaurants, but also far enough out that it’s quiet and relaxing. The pool, garden and different seating areas (including bbq) were the highlight of the villa, and we spent most of our time outside. The property is well set up for kids with games and cot and toilet seat etc, as well as a children’s decorated room. The interior is very traditional and was perfect for our taste, and everything was as advertised and described. Some areas could do with slight modernisation in the future, but everything worked well and we really enjoyed our stay. There was plenty of seating and the pool/pool area were a great way to relax when not at the beach. Ross

Une maison bien située, confortable avec de magnifiques jardins!

Notre séjour de 20 jours à Casa Hibiscus en mars-avril 2024 nous a permis d’apprécier les commodités de la maison, la cuisine bien équipée, la jolie vaisselle et la verrerie de qualité. Le lave-vaisselle est minuscule, alors on fait souvent la vaisselle! La laveuse à linge est à l’extérieur, et, avec le soleil et le vent, le linge séchait bien sur les cordes de la terrasse sur le toit. Les pièces sont bien aménagées et confortables, mais on peut constater que la maison a du vécu. Les chambres sont isolées des aires de vie, ce qui donne beaucoup de tranquillité. À noter que la chambre du « milieu » est plus petite et plus sombre. Nous avons eu la malchance d’avoir du temps frais et pluvieux pendant notre première semaine, nous avons donc passé plus de temps à l’intérieur, pour constater que c’est un peu sombre. Heureusement qu’il y a du chauffage qui a aidé à chasser un peu l’humidité. L’aménagement extérieur est le point fort de la maison, les fleurs, les arbres, les étangs de grenouilles font rêver et les 4 terrasses sont toutes jolies et différentes. La maison est située sur une rue tranquille et on a accès à pied au petit marché du village, aux plages de Vale Centeanes et Carvoeiro, au Sentier des 7 vallées suspendues, à Algar Seco et au golf Vale Milho. La communication avec Alex avant et pendant notre séjour, ainsi qu’avec Claudio et Ilda pour l’accueil et le ménage a été excellente.

Casa Hibiscus exceeded our expectations

This is a wonderful find and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place in Carvoeiro - It is beautifully maintained and well equipt you feel like you like you are at home - only wish we could have stayed longer - FYI - I am not "Dave" for someone reason VRBO has me listed as Dave - I am Lisbeth
