We have restored a 300 year old stone house with an outbuilding in the village centre of Mrkovi in a stylish and dedicated manner. Since we made it for ourselves, it is very personalised and furnished with loving details. Through the rear door you enter the small "magic garden" - the neighbours call it a jungle. We planted it 8 years ago and now the trees are already so tall that they provide shade. They bear fruit, figs, mulberries, lemons, kumquats, cherries and apricots. Everything is blossoming and thriving! In autumn we can already harvest olives, not enough for pressing, but they can also be pickled. You can relax wonderfully under their branches! An open stone staircase leads from the green inner courtyard to a shady arcade and the stone terrace. Access to the roof terrace is via the gallery. You can barbecue in the garden or on the stone terrace (table and chairs for 6 people). The roof terrace offers a marvellous view of the sea and the mountain panorama.
The upper and lower floors are connected with a stone staircase inside and outside in open construction, an iron staircase leads to the gallery with balcony. Each floor has an open fireplace for cosy hours in winter. Two bathrooms each have a shower and WC, and there is a separate WC on the ground floor. The large kitchen is fully equipped with all appliances, crockery, table linen, dishwasher and washing machine. The house has air conditioning, WIFI, satellite TV and underfloor heating for the winter. On each floor there is a large sofa bed (140cm to 180cm), a double bed in the gallery and a double bed in the bedroom. The ground floor and first floor are connected by an open stone staircase. The furnishings are a stylish combination of modern furniture and antiques. As a massive old stone building, the stairs are also slightly higher.
A travelling grocer comes by every day with the essentials. Lustica has no public water supply and no groundwater. The water comes from cisterns.
If arriving by plane: Podgorica, Dubrovnik, Tivat (from here we can pick you up by taxi if necessary), a hire car can be organised.
The house is located in the centre of Mrkovi on the Adriatic side of the peninsula, next to one of fifteen churches on Lustica. It is in a very quiet location, surrounded by old olive groves. At night you can hear jackals barking in the distance.
The following excursions are recommended: Approx. 20 km to Tivat (Porto Montenegro and shopping facilities), approx. 35 km to Budva (beautiful old coastal town), approx. 25 km to Kotor with its magnificent old town and fortress walls and you can cycle around the entire Bay of Kotor with its old villages (e.g. Perast): approx. 50 km. On the way you will find good fish restaurants (Stari Mlini!) and restaurants. Beautiful excursions into the mountains to old monasteries or to the LOVCEN, 1749 m are also recommended. Nearby beaches are Forte Rose approx. 1.5 km and Janica/Mirista approx. five km. There are various sports facilities in the area, an adventure water park, good restaurants and bars. From Janica beach you can take boat trips to Herzeg Novi, the "Blue Grotto" and secluded bays.
You can park your car in front of the house. If you need more space, you can spread out in the neighbouring house CASA AUSTRIA for 4 persons.
