Calming, restorative & relaxing

The house was beautiful located a perfect distance from the beach and ocean. Having a pool to enjoy after a day at the beach was so nice. We were close to all of the areas that we have come to love since coming to the Outer Banks. The check in and check out procedures were so easy. Vacations are meant to be stress free, fun and memory building - our stay at the Salty Sailor checked all of my boxes.

Best vacation in a long time

This house was the coolest house ever, we had the best time and really enjoyed every moment. The views from the decks, the hotub and pool, the lounging areas were all better than pictured. I wish i didnt ever have to leave. A great place for a family to sit back and relax. The worse part was having to carry everything up top at check in and out but thats typical in OBX. Great times were had.

Nice property

The house was very nice. We did have one disappointing item. The hot tub had a very old and heavy cover. The cover lifts were broken and being senior citizens it was very hard to use the hot tub. I badly bruised my leg trying to get one side on by myself.

Great house, lovely weather, everything was awesome, Except for the washer(laundry); It took forever to spin the loads dry enough to put in the dryer. Maybe a drain issue??

Beautiful home perfect for a multi-family stay.

The home was extremely clean and comfortable. Very quick access to the beach… walkable less than a quarter mile to public access. Multiple grocery stores within a couple minutes… and easy access to restaurants, putt putt, ice cream, and WRV surf shop right across the street.

Salty Sailor fun!

We were a party of three adult couples and two children. Positives~ adult bedrooms all have king sized beds, TVs in all the rooms, refrigerators upstairs and downstairs, beach very close, pool and hot tub were both on the small size, but ok for young children, grocery store close, quiet street at night. Negatives~ For heaven sakes it is a beach house and you have to rent beach towels? The sheets on the upstairs bed were not the correct size so they pulled off every night, the two extra pillows did not come with pillow cases?!?! For guests who are flying to the outer banks just wondering how much stuff one can be expected to bring! Each person gets one cheap bath towel, hand towel and wash cloth. Put some money into decent towels and sheets! In the kitchen there were two potholders, and one cup towel. We were cooking three meals a day for eight people! We went through an amazing amount of paper towels! Good to know~ There are absolutely no amenities like dish soap, toilet paper(even to get you started) dishwasher soap, foil, plastic wrap etc. Fortunately one of the families had driven to the house so they were able to take the extra stuff with them. I paid the entire amount due on time and then realized that we would need beach towels so I ordered them and because we were within the 30 days prior to arrival a nasty threatening email was generated stating that if I did not pay the 33$ by 5pm my entire reservation would be canceled! I was so panicked because I had no idea that would happen. I needed to return a form to them so they could charge my card. fortunately I was able to get ahold of someone on a sunday and was told "oh that was auto-generated" Most certainly a rude way to deal with people. I also learned that by renting through VRBO I paid more than if I had just rented through the realtor who manages this listing. We were all under the impression that the point of VRBO was that you were dealing with the owners. Learned something there. If you are flying into this vacation you will need to rent beach chairs, umbrellas, and a little cart to drag it all to the beach. The company that rents the stuff delivers it and picks it up, super easy! The water here is not super warm, not as cold as it is in Monterey, but not super inviting. Fireworks were awesome! You could see the Kitty Hawk pier fireworks from the balcony of the house! Plus lots of neighbors had spent a fortune on fireworks! This is a good basic beach house.

Family vacation

Great house for a family getaway with grandparents. We all had plenty of room and quiet for baby/kids to sleep. Close enough to walk to beach with small kids. Love love love there are no condo/apartment high rises in the area.

Our Fun Vacation

This property was ideal for our extended family! All the ages had a really good time for everything that was offered. The pool and the hot tub and the pool table went over very big for everyone. It was really nice also having the walk to the beach so close. The house also was stocked with everything we needed!

Amazing hidden gem property with all that you need to enjoy an extended family vacation!!!

We really enjoyed this property. It had everything you needed to enjoy a peaceful and quiet family vacation. The property is very clean and the kitchen is stocked with all your supplies. The basketball hoop and pool table were icing on the cake for my boys. They played everyday. This is definitely a house we would rent again.

New and Nice

House was gorgeous. A bit farther from the beach and unusual that nothing was left behind in regards to any trash bags, cleaning items, etc that I am used to at many other rental homes. Our teen boys had a blast. We knew the pool was closed but they opened it and began cleaning a day before we left which only teased us all. Wish they had waited until we left. Kitchen was very well stocked! Quiet neighborhood with friendly folks!

Perfect house and location!

My husband and I along with our two friends total enjoyed the house, pool and hot tub. The size was perfect, not too big for the 4 of us. Location was great for walking and beach super close,. Couldn't have asked for more.

Just a perfect beach house!

The house is perfect! Only a few years old, was super clean and nice- very well-thought-out design. As a sailor, my wife and I loved the theme and the decorating. Perfect spot, one block off the beach, in a very nice, quiet neighborhood. Great view of ocean and surrounding area from the 3rd floor deck (looks over many of the houses as most are 2-stories.) Pool was very nice, and clean, same for hot tub. Since only two of us, we only used the 3rd floor master bedroom/bath and bed was comfy, good hot shower, etc. A great layout throughout. Beautiful kitchen open to entire 3rd floor living area. Multiple decks. Quality furnishings throughout. Fun to have a pool table to fill in some down time too. Rental seems to be a bargain for what you get. We liked it so much we've already booked it next year. Looking forward to sharing it with family/friends next time. Thanks for sharing your beach house with us!

Beautiful place, excellent stay!

My family loved this property. On a quiet street, about 3 minutes walk to the beach. There was plenty of room, and the house has a great layout. House was spotless and well maintained. Pool and hot tub were sparkling clean. Highly recommended!

Fantastic! Beautiful place....very close to the beach!

This place is lovely. It has everything you need, except for some beach gear like chairs and umbrellas, but we rented some from a local vendor which was very inexpensive who delivered them and picked them up at the end of our stay. The house is very clean and decorated nicely. I would say beachy yet classy. Had plenty of rooms and bathrooms which was nice for entertaining. The pool and hut tub were a treat and the beach is gorgeous. Clean brown sand and blue green water. We loved it! We had the best pizza we've ever had (and that is saying a LOT) in a little nearby town called Corolla, called Corolla Pizza & Deli appropriately. And I also bought the BEST taffy I've ever tasted, also saying a LOT, at a place called the Sugar Kingdom...there are lots of locations you can't miss. I brought like 10 pounds of it home with me. The area seems family oriented and has a relaxing vibe, but there was plenty of good restaurants and several larger towns nearby that had tons of shopping and restaurants. We had a great time and would definitely stay here again.
