  • One of the northernmost towns along the coast in North Carolina, Duck is an idyllic town on the shores of the Currituck Sound. This shot was taken from the town's boardwalk while looking West over the sounds. It is advisable to visit the location in Winter as that is off season - so you can spend more time taking in the beauty of the North Carolina coastline and also sunsets are usually much more picturesque around the time owing to the cooler temperatures and lower amount of atmospheric haze. Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. I'd recommend taking a tour through the Corolla Wild Horse Fund - the money from the tours is used to help the wild horses in every which way possible and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Excellent accomodation and location! We would stay here again. The walk to the ocean took seven minutes, and the beach was never crowded, which was lovely. We walked to Duck in 45 minutes, and enjoyed the boardwalk a lot. The beds were comfy, and there was a high chair and portable crib. If you use an Instant Pot or Keurig, you will want to bring those. We brought sheets, extra blankets, bath towels, hand towels, bathroom floor mats, and washcloths, which are not provided, as clearly stated in the listing. Bring soap & shampoo too.

Great for two families

Great stay here with two families. Easy check in and very responsive host. It was a short walk to the beach, but crossing the road was sometimes difficult with the kids. The included parking passes helped with getting all the beach items and kiddos to and from the beach access. Our youngest learned to swim this week with daily access to the private pool (pool light switches next to the gate btw). All the kids had a great time finding sand crabs and ghost crabs out on the beach this week - day and night. The kitchen was nicely equipped and the linens package included sheets, bath towels and beach towels which was great.

Absolutely enjoyed our time in this space. Beautiful home. Great location. Easy access to the beach. Would definitely return in the future. The kitchen is stocked with many useful items. The instructions were easy to follow. We received the guest information well in advance. There are many areas in the house to hang out. Very clean. Lots of outdoor chairs. Outside shower to clean off sand. The lower level living room with bedroom is very comfortable, spacious and clean. Furniture is updated. Beds were comfortable. Highly recommend.

Great stay!

We had a wonderful stay in this home! The owner was very kind and responsive. The home was super comfortable for 8 people, and we all enjoyed the pool! We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a family friendly home near the beach!

Great Location

This house was perfect for our family vacation. The pool was a big hit with everyone and the home was very accommodating. Our host was also accommodating and gave us all the information we needed to complete our vacation. The park and the beach provided us all with activities within walking distance. This is a beautiful home with excellent amenities. It is very clean and has a well stocked kitchen.

Lovely house

The house was fantastic with comfortable beds, a well-stocked kitchen, and a great layout for our three families. The kids loved the arcade games and the pool. The owners thought of little details that made it feel like home, such as providing kids’ books, puzzles and board games, along with dish soap and laundry detergent. Crossing route 12 was a bit difficult at times of heavy traffic but the location was convenient to Duck and Wal-Mart/Harris Teeter. The beach was an easy walk away and the owner provided parking passes which was very nice. We had a great time here!

Wonderful Vacation

The house was clean and well stocked. Lots of board games, private pool and the PAC man game kept the kids busy when we weren’t at the beach. Great location, very close to the beach. Easy check in and check out and the host was very responsive. Would definitely recommend!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great Property

Nice big house! We loved the stocked kitchen and many bathrooms. The only downside I would say is that for kids, having the dining room chairs fabric and a glass table was difficult. Also, the lack of seating in the living room space made it difficult to all gather. Overall, it was a great property!

Nice place in Souther shores

We enjoyed our stay here in Southern shore. Public Beach access was about a 3-4 block walk but they provided a parking pass that we used every day. Even though there were only 6-8 parking spots at the public beach access we never had a problem getting a spot. It is on route 12, that goes to Corolla and Duck so that is a busy road. The only time that was an issue was Sat/Sun when people are moving in/out for the week. Then it just required a little patience, The bottom floor has the game room/kids room/laundry and bathroom. The second floor has one bedroom with an onsuite bathroom and two bedrooms with a jack and jill bathroom, The third floor had the libing room/kitchen and dining space a half bathroom and the master bedroom with an on-suite. The pool was nice but is small-ish. There was a grill that we used. There were 4-5 beach chairs and a beach unbrella that we used. It was a nice place and had everything we needed.

Great stay in Southern Shores

Two families enjoyed our stay at this lovely house. It’s about 1/3 mile walk to the beach and right on a main road, but it came with parking passes that could get you and your beach goods a lot closer to the dunes. Property is well-kept and clean.

The best

Our family finally made it back to the Outer Banks!! There were 11 family members who came and the house was perfect for us! It was a blistering hot week and the pool was a godsend. Surrounded b ay lush forest the pool was mostly shaded in the afternoon. The beach was only a 6 minute walk away which was perfect. There was also a parking pass to my mother and aunt so they didn't have to walk. The costs of ocean front are far too much anymore. The house: clean, kitchen stocked perfectly, puzzles and games in the rec room, and everything else was wonderful! There was an issue with the a/c when we first arrived, sent Dan a text and within an hour the issue disappeared. Dan: awesome man, very quick replies, communicate well, I wish he was the host for all the rentals we've stayed at!! Overall, perfect week!! Did not want to leave.... Thank you Dan!!!

Amazing Place!

Everything was great and the communication was good. This house was very clean and the decorations throughout the house gave you a tranquil beach vibe. We both walked and drove to the beach, parking was not an issue (passes provided). Yes, it is off of the main road, but crossing to get the beach was not a problem. We used everything (the games, grill, pool, hot tub, jetted bathtub, and mini fridge, washer/dryer) and greatly appreciated! Everything you could need for cooking your own meals is provided. Be sure to read the description of what is provided very carefully. For example, I forgot bath mat/rugs. Kitchen towels were provided, but you need to bring hand towels (thankfully, I read that carefully). I highly recommend this house for your OBX vacation!
