  • One of the northernmost towns along the coast in North Carolina, Duck is an idyllic town on the shores of the Currituck Sound. This shot was taken from the town's boardwalk while looking West over the sounds. It is advisable to visit the location in Winter as that is off season - so you can spend more time taking in the beauty of the North Carolina coastline and also sunsets are usually much more picturesque around the time owing to the cooler temperatures and lower amount of atmospheric haze. Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. I'd recommend taking a tour through the Corolla Wild Horse Fund - the money from the tours is used to help the wild horses in every which way possible and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. We had the good fortune of staying at this awesome property during a family trip with our new granddaughter. The home was the perfect size for our family, with plenty of amenities, a well-stocked kitchen and excellent layout. The pool was clean and refreshing, a welcome site since the ocean was too rough to swim in while we were there. The owner communication was also excellent, answering any questions we had and attending to any issue without hesitation. She also provided recommendations for restaurants and things to do. Location was decent (even though it's on a main road), close to both Duck and Kitty Hawk, although you'll want to drive through the Southern Shores neighborhood to get to the property instead of on Duck Rd on Saturday and Sunday afternoons because of the traffic. All in all, a 5-star experience for us. We'll be back!

Fantastic beach week!

We had such a lovely week. The house was exceedingly comfortable and clean, the kids enjoyed their rooms and the pool so much. The beach was not too far of a walk, and the beach cart and other supplies were super helpful. Any questions we had were answered almost immediately.

This property was exactly as it was stated in the ad. It was extremely clean, cleanest I have ever stayed in. We have vacationed to the Outer Banks for over 50 years and this cottage is by far my most favorite of any we have stayed in. The owner is very welcoming and accessible for any needs and questions, which were few because the house accommodated us with all we needed. Can’t wait to return

Great getaway

We had a short and sweet getaway, long weekend at this beach house. It was lovely with the pool and quick access to the beach. Everything we wanted and needed. The listing discusses how well stocked the kitchen is in regards to equipment and they weren’t kidding. It has anything and everything you might need for meal prep.

A great stay!

We visited over our daughter's spring break and we loved everything about this house! The location is great, as it is just a few minutes away from the main road into OBX. There are grocery stores and other retail nearby and it is a quick bike ride away from Duck. While it is located on a busy road, we spent much of our time in the back yard at the pool so road noise was not an issue. The house was perfect for our group of 6 and the property manager was very responsive. We were there in April and while it was too windy and cool to be at the beach, the backyard is protected and we spent so much time by the beautiful pool. The pool area is protected by trees and it was so nice to spend time outside. The kitchen sink has filtered water (big bonus in my eyes) and the house is well stocked. We would definitely stay here again!

Just Right

We had a great time staying at “About Dune Time.” The house was clean and had all the amenities we needed for a week at the beach. The location was convenient to Kitty Hawk and the Duck areas.

Great Property

Great house for our group of 2 adult couples. House was clean and roomy, pool area was great. House is 2.3 miles from downtown Duck, easy to get to most of the time. Duck Rd is very busy and the sidewalk/bike trail is across the street, have to be very careful crossing. That’s the only drawback. Having a green light bulb in the front lamp was a genius move, making it easy to see the driveway when coming back at night. Would definitely stay there again!

Clean and comfortable!

We stayed for a week and had a lovely time! It was the cleanest rental we’ve stayed in, and it provided plenty of space for 5 adults. It is on the main road so turning out of the driveway could be tricky at the busier times of day. The beach access with the provided HOA parking pass wasn’t crowded and has port-a-potties, trash/recycling bins, and showers to wash your feet off. The only downside to the house was that there isn’t much green space to roam if you choose to bring your pet. We would definitely visit again!

Beautiful Home, Close to the beach and Duck!

Wonderful week long stay. The house was clean and tidy. We enjoyed the pool and walked daily to the beach. We enjoyed being close to both the beach, Duck and the amenities. The only downside is the location on a busy road, although you can't hear the traffic noise when inside the house. The owners were extremely attentive and responsive when we had a question or concern. I wound definitely rebook and recommend to those looking for a place to stay in OBX.

Home away from Home

I could come to this home all the time year round, we really enjoyed ourselves. Everything described on the listing was that and more. I highly recommend this lovely beautiful home, close to all things, shopping, restaurants and a bike ride to the beach.

Loved this place!

This place was perfect for our little family for the week! My husband, two daughters (3 and 1) and I loved the privacy, proximity, and amenities of this home. The owner Areca was more than helpful with getting us checked in and answering questions in a timely manner. Property was VERY clean and well stocked. Pool was an added bonus! Would definitely recommend this property and would definitely stay here again!

Incredibly Relaxing

The house was lovely! And the pool allowed us to relax and enjoy time together beyond the beach! We never thought of having a pool at the beach, but it made our time together even better! I don’t know how you can make it more obvious to your customers, but the folks before us must have missed putting trash out on Friday - there were 3 full trash bins when we arrived. No problem - my son put them out for Monday pick-up, but don’t think that anyone could have accumulated that much trash in 2 days! Thanks so much for making your home available. We would love to come back in the future!

Friends vacation with two dogs

We had a great time at the outer banks. This location is about two blocks from the beach. It comes with chairs and a wagon to bring what is needed to the beach and back. Our dogs really enjoyed staying here. The pool was nice. The kitchen was adequate for cooking and we had the firehouse boil company come and cook for use one night which was wonderful. The owner/management was responsive and kind. Would recommend staying here to others!

Great week at fabulous house!

We had a fantastic week staying at "About Dune Time"- this beautiful home was immaculately clean, fully stocked with supplies & had all of the amenities we could ask for! Our favorite area to hang out was the back deck & pool area! Areca was warm, welcoming & quick to answer any questions we had. We highly recommend "About Dune Time" & hope to return next summer!

Perfect vacation

The property exceeded all expectations. Exemplary cleanliness, coupled with first rate amenities and features made this vacation an absolute joy. The house was perfect and everything just worked. Contact with the host was easy, pleasant and appropriate. Local information was readily available and the beach was an easy, short walk with the beautiful town of Duck a 5 minute drive away. The saltwater pool was fantastic (even in early April....brrrr!). This property is a gem!
