Abundant space in house, top notch gas stove and oven. Fenced in backyard great for dogs. Dock provided easy access to sound for kayaking. Chairs and cooler perfect for day on the beach. Lastly, host super helpful and promptly responsive.

Inside was very clean, well kept and kitchen fully stocked with dishes, pots/pans but left no pantry room for our groceries except on counters. All 3 beds had very firm mattresses. Lots of books and games for families to use. Host was very responsive and friendly. Listing identified a pool but it was in another neighborhood a few miles away so we didn’t bother. Deck, windows, and stairs were covered in spiderwebs. We knocked them down the first night but they were all back by morning so we gave up. Overall it was a pleasant stay as we spent more time at the beach and engaging in area activities more than being at the house.

Beach Vacation 2025

We absolutely loved staying at this location! We were spoiled with the best views of the bay and sunsets, oh my gosh!! So nice to get away and feel right at home with how cozy it is! I would definitely book this place again!

Peaceful and just what we needed

The fenced in yard was great for our small dog after a long car ride and the trees made the evening feel cooler than it was. Lovely property - would definitely visit again and for longer.

Peaceful and beautiful views

We had peaceful and restful getaway. The views off the deck and from the living room and kitchen were beautiful. The host was very nice and available for any questions I had. We would definitely stay here again!

We loved our stay here. Great location, central, but on the sound, beautiful sunsets. This place also has the advantage of a good fence, which was great for our dog.

Perfect getaway that is pet friendly

The host was wonderful. They were quick to respond to all of my questions and provided all the information we needed to check in and out with efficiency. The house was incredibly clean and even better than what we pictured on the listing. We even got the kayaks out and got on the water for a little while! I travel with my dog frequently and this spot was more than accommodating. There was plenty of space for her to run and lay I the sun. Before we even left the rental we were already making plans for our next visit! For those that travel with pets: the next door neighbors have two dogs that are frequently outside and will bark/stay at the fence and bark, but this is beyond the hosts control!

Great view and water access

We had a really nice trip to this property in September. The view from the deck was really beautiful, and we took advantage of the water access with kayaks. We also appreciated that the dog friendly yard was clean and tidy.

Wonderful Getaway

The property was beautiful and exactly as described in the listing. The house was clean, the kitchen well stocked, and there were many books, games, and movies available when relaxing at home. The dock was wonderful to fish off of and watch the beautiful sunsets. We really enjoyed our holiday and look forward to returning.

Great home with a beautiful view

Our family loved everything about this home! The location was perfect for us. The view of the water and sunsets were beautiful. The fenced in backyard and gated deck were great for our pups. The home was meticulously cleaned and prepared for our arrival. Areca was a pleasure and was great with communication and suggestions for restaurants in the area. We will definitely contact Areca again if we are ever in the area.

Family Trip on the 4th of July

Our family of 5 including children, elderly mother-in-law and dog all enjoyed our time at this lovely home on the water. Everything was clean and maintained. Highlights include kayaking off the back dock and seeing an osprey’s nest up close, pulling up the crab pots the host had baited for us, and watching the beautiful sunsets every night! We also loved watching fireworks on the beach only a 5 minute drive away and going to the Wright Brothers Memorial around the corner. Thank you for the wonderful memories!

Fantastic House

Relaxing

Wonderful property and amenities. The house is tastefully decorated and comfy. We used all the spaces. Loved having dinner on the porch with the whole family watching the sunset. Other evenings took bike rides, kayaked, hung out in the awesome fenced in yard. Our dog loved it! The kids (and husband) loved the dock. We caught blue crabs and the kids enjoyed cooking and eating them. There is a great firepit where we had smores and relaxed by the fire. Short drive to beaches - we chose different ones each day. It was great having beach chairs and towels provided. Close to grocery store. The host was very responsive and friendly.Truly a wonderful family vacation. Thanks for sharing your lovely home Areca!

Family holiday weekend

The place was clean, spacious, with a beautiful porch and dock with extensive views of the bay. We loved fishing, kayaking, and eating outdoors with nature all around us! The bikes were a hit too! We had everything we needed for an adult family holiday, even the dog had a grand time!

Great Stay!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! We are frequent visitors to the OBX but this is our first time renting on the sound side in this area. The views from this house are just spectacular and beautiful. The house is in a great, central location--very peaceful and quiet and the neighbors are really friendly. There is a multi-use path right around the corner, which we used daily. We were very comfortable and had everything we needed. The fenced yard for our Doodle was a HUGE benefit. There's also a nice dock. Areca is a joy to work with. We would definitely stay here again!

Fantastic Home

This is one of the best vacation homes that we’ve stayed in in our 20+ years of coming to the Outer Banks. The house was super clean and had everything that we needed. The views were incredible access to stores and entertainment was within walking distance, or a short drive. We will definitely stay here again.

Nice view, location & neighbors

It’s an older beach house with a lot of updates. Comfortable, attractive and well equipped. Easy check-in. Super responsive host. We used the bicycles and enjoyed the bike trails. Best part is probably the deck and water view. Beds are very firm.

Great Location

The house was nice and big. The kayak was great to have and was enjoyed. The 4 TVs worked great and streaming was a breeze. The neighbors were nice. Our dogs barked at each other, sniffed, and ran the fence line together. They even offered to help with our dog when my mother had a medical event while there. The AC works amazing and there are powerful ceiling fans in the bedrooms. They have an ice maker and beach chairs. I was not a fan of the upstairs beds. It says queen but they definitely seemed like a full. It just wasnt enough room for us to sleep so we slept in separate beds unfortunately. They were also very firm. My husband liked it but i was not a fan. We gave the downstairs room to my elderly mother but unfortunately she could not get into the bed by herself because it is very high. The steps under the house also do not have a handrail halfway up so she could not enter that way. Also bring paper towels because they had none and only had one hand towel that i found. And we ran out of trash bags. We were left 2. Overall the place was nice it just wasnt the place for us due to comfortability. I stay at a lot of vrbos and so im picky, Ha! But thats why i still gave 5 stars because it would still be great for other families.
