Upon entering the complex the front desk was closed for the Easter long weekend so we could only rely on the instruction we received by email. (Which turned out to be completely inaccurate.) We parked in visitor parking because another vehicle was parked in "our" parking spot, several days later when the office was open the staff gave us a parking pass and said that we could park anywhere. Upon entering the unit we found garbage on the kitchen counter, a hamper full of dirty towels, used paper towels on the toilet tank and a mixture of dirt and sand covering the floors. We immediately sent an email to the contact person listed in the instructions advising them that it appeared our room had not been cleaned. We washed a load of towels and sheets to have a clean place to sleep and shower and headed to the pool. The pool code in the email instructions were wrong and we were unable to gain access to the pool. Other residents let us in to the pool and updated us with the code for future access. Once we got settled, cleaned the unit and washed our own towels and linens it was an ok place to stay. On the second day 10 minutes before 4pm (check-in time) a cleaning women who spoke no English walked in while we were inside. She was surprised to see us in the unit. We tried to ask her to clean the unit but communication was a problem so she left. The A/C is a joke it's old and inadequate and appears to be from the 80's and built into the unit. There were two oscillating fans for use but one was broken and the other is on its last leg. Several pillows, the mattress cover, mattress and blankets have large stains. We probably wouldn't have seen these stains if we didn't have to clean our linens so heads up. There was also no extra toilet paper, no paper towels, no dish cloths. After several more emails to the contact person to no avail, we emailed Evolve the property management company. Several days into the trip a women who claimed to be the contact person showed up at our unit unannounced. She confirmed that she was the contact person and did not see our emails as she doesn't check it often. She tried to give us cash as compensation which we declined. Through Evolve and the owner we were credited the room cleaning fee. On the plus side, the couch, night stands, dresser, bed, microwave, stove and dishwasher have been updated from the photos. We have been to Maui several times and this was the worst place we have stayed in. We will not be coming back.
