The condo itself is a good size and clean (except for the ants). The beds are comfortable, there are plenty of fans, and the a/c in the living room cools the place down nicely.
The check-in process took forever - wish we could just use the code to get in the rental and have the parking pass inside without having to go jump through extra hoops. Someone was parked in our spot, so had to go back to the desk and report it, then wait for them to leave. We were allowed to park in visitor parking until they vacated the spot.
Like other reviewers have stated, there are ants in the kitchen. I was hoping that wouldn't be the case, but ants were all over the counter when we were there - going to and from the ant traps. We kept our food in sealed containers in cabinets above the fridge, but I was still worried. We emptied the trash each day and wiped down the counters after prepping food. But it was gross to see ants there all the time.
We had trouble with the door locking behind us. It was difficult to get a hold of the owner - had to route through a management company. Someone did finally answer and help us out.
The toilet paper and paper towels are thin and cheap. Only 3 dishwasher tabs and laundry tabs. We bring our own anyway, but we've stayed in a lot of VRBO rentals over the years and this place is by far the the stingiest with amenities. No leftover condiments in the fridge, very little in the way of extras in a cabinet - be prepared to buy everything you need.
As far as beach equipment goes - bring a cooler, a beach bag, and plan to rent snorkeling equipment. They have 1 kids set and 1 adult set that still didn't fit our teen. One umbrella was broken, but the 2nd one worked. The 4 beach chairs were nice though.
All that to say, it is an excellent location. Quick walk to the beach, plenty of places to eat, plenty of other beaches a short drive away. We loved Maui, but would have liked an ant-free rental with a few more "comforts" that we have gotten used to from previous VRBO stays, and not having to deal with a check-in desk. And we prefer being able to contact the owner directly, not a management company.
