Major Problems
The Casita had two MAJOR problems during our one-week stay: 1. The roof leaked when it rained and water was dripping from the ceiling in multiple places including through two light fixtures and the electric fan over the electric stovetop. This was a known issue since there was existing bubbling of paint on the ceiling, 2. We saw a few cockroaches in the unit, which was also a known issue since Rikel said the exterminator had sprayed recently. There were several other problems: 1. No dishwasher, which was an unpleasant surprise after reading the description that “Grammie's Casita kitchen is fully equipped”, 2. No coffee maker, 3. No pots large enough for cooking pasta (just two small saucepans), 4. No light in the refrigerator- we tried installing a new bulb and it didn't work, 5. No can opener, colander or wine glasses (we had to go shopping and buy some), 7. No table to sit at for meals (just stools at the kitchen counter), 8. The Murphy fold-down bed has a thin, small mattress (not queen size as described) which is uncomfortable for two people to sleep on. The pull out sofa bed is so uncomfortable it's unusable.Because of these problems, especially the leaking ceiling and roaches, we asked the owner/manager (Rikel Bundy who was on the property at the end of our stay) for a partial refund. However, she has stonewalled us and has not responded to our request.On the plus side, the location is convenient and the property has good potential with the problems fixed.
