Lovely getaway

We appreciated the cleanliness, layout, lake and peaceful setting. Top floor has two bedrooms and bathroom. Main floor has master and ensuite. Basement has bedroom and bathroom. Made it easy to create some divided spaces and worked well for our group. Firepit was fun. The lake was lovely and there were items to help enjoy the lake - life vests, a few toys and kayaks, and standup paddle board (paddle for paddle board is missing). Only downsides were the spotty internet service and lack of seasonings in the kitchen. (Seasonings were not listed in the listing. I am used to having a few, like cinnamon, left by other guests.) I prefer places with the keypad but the office staff was welcoming and picking up the keys was an easy process.

Bailey Family & Friends Vacay 2022

We had a great time. The place was just as described. Felt very comfortable and homey. The lay out of the house was ideal for privacy and most anything you need for cooking is in the kitchen. (Bring a can opener tho) The property management team was superb and made the process super easy. Wonderful getaway that I would definitely recommend!

Great house and location, but shamefully managed by property management company

House and location are great. At the time of writing, the home is managed by a property management company and we did not have a good experience with them. They did not communicate well and never responded to documented/reported safety issues at the property involving unsafe conditions on the path from the house to the lake - we actually had someone slip and fall and emailed the management company but NEVER got a response. On top of poor exterior property maintenance, you have to drive out of the way to an office to pick up keys upon check-in, which I haven't had to do in at least a decade, and also the home is not furnished with any towels or linens and it is left up to the renter to arrange these services (vs the property management company handling it). If this were my home, I would not let the current management company manage my property - they are detracting more value than they are adding to the overall rental experience. Because of this, we will not be returning to this property and it is a shame because it is a really great spot on SML.

Great place to get away

We had a great time staying at English Retreat. The house was everything we wanted. We really loved the fire pit and the dock. Rented a boat so it was nice to be able to come and go as we pleased. Kitchen is well stocked. Living room and downstairs are roomy . Our dog really enjoyed the ability to run around the property as well as a quick dip in the water. Overall it was a great time and well worth it.

Long weekend visit

Thank you for a great visit and weekend! We brought 6 kids, so the downstairs game room was a big hit. Water access and water equipment worked great; very nice dock. Chilly weekend in April, so we got to enjoy the fire pit area as well. Hope to return soon!

Perfect for family Thanksgiving

My husband and I invited out daughter, husband, and infant son and our son and his fiance for tThanksgiving weekend. The kitchen was spacious and very well stocked (which was important since I forgot a couple of things), The living area was roomy and comfortable. Since we had nice weather we even used the deck and the fire pit. The bedrooms and bathrooms were on three different levels and this was the deciding factor in selecting this property. We would definitely choose to stay there again.

Great location and dock

Well equipped house, mattresses could use replacing as everyone thought they were uncomfortable. Lots of room, fabulous firepit and walkway to the lake. Very quiet location. Maybe get a space heater for the downstairs bedroom as it got a bit chilly

Nice location, comfortable home.

It's obvious the owners take good care of the house. Everything was functional and clean. The kitchen was stocked well enough to be able to cook your average meal (although knives do need to be replaced or sharpened). Like many of the properties around the lake, linen service was not provided, but the leasing office provided the name of a service that dropped off linens. I only wish more houses would just include linens as part of the rental cost. The location down near the dam was great, best part of the lake. The floating portion of the dock was large enough to accommodate a 24ft pontoon that we rented. The owners also provide two kayaks for guest use, which was nice. The fire pit was great, we enjoyed it on a nice fall evening. This part of the lake has a steep shoreline, so the walk from the dock to the house involves a fair amount of steep steps. Fine for your average person, but anyone with mobility issues, take this into consideration. We would definitely stay here again.

Great stay at clean well equipped home. Wonderful lake to explore by boat.

Had a wonderful family weekend. Explored the cove via kayak at the property and hung out of the dock. We also rented a boat at Bridgewater Marina and crossed the lake back to the house. Had a wonderful time on a beautiful lake with so much to see and enjoy.

Hidden Gem!

Snagged a quick 3 day weekend away at this hidden gem in the mountains. The property is amazing! Easy access to the water, private community boat ramp, and just all around great neighborhood to rent from. Will definitely visit again soon!

Just what we needed!

This was the perfect location for a weekend of relaxing and family fun. You can’t beat the view of the mountains and the lake is perfect. My girls loved the kayaks and floating in the cove. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

English Retreat

Property was everything advertised. The holly at the front of the house could be trimmed back as to not prick you as passing and the gravel path to the dock could be better maintained. An enjoyable time was had by our family!

Nice family get away

Easy booking, nice clean house, well kept and updated. Wish the weather had been warmer so we could have enjoyed the kayaks and paddle board. Did not realize most restaurants were closed on Sunday- Tuesday. We will keep that in mind next time we book in this area.
