Nice little house. House is not directly on the lower Platte, surrounded by private property, so access to the river and shared dock is a quarter mile away. I prefer owner managed properties because these management companies amenities and upkeep is the bare minimum. No welcome email or guide book with tips or info. I had to message them to even find out where the dock was. I appreciate when these rentals have some essential like salt, pepper, oil stocked, but this house had a cabinet full of expired spices and non-perishables that need to be cleaned out. Cabin is in a nice, quite neighborhood, and only a couple miles from the beach, but definitely stock up on groceries on the way because almost all market and food options are at least 10-15 miles away.

Swing and a miss!

Once you get past the arachnid roommates (more than normal for a Northwoods cabin I might add!), your curiosity may pique on whether the black-colored (and wet) stain on the kitchen rug was normal…takes awhile to miss the fridge condensing and draining so badly to allow this to accrue. Eh, just step around it? What about the tiles near the tub that held water constantly and baseboards turned black by said standing water? Great for soaking your feet while using the loo, I suppose…Good news, is that the management company (Vacasa) was prompt on the text, just not too concerned with doing work to resolve any of these issues. e.g. “Will you please send pics?”…”No. I don’t work for Vacasa. I’m supposed have paid for somewhere hospitable and not do work on my vacation to serve your interests of which you already charged me a fee.”Suffice it to state, we overpaid and cannot recommend unless you’re opting for something better than sleeping on moss in the woods.

Great Location, Needs Improvement

We booked this place because it says it has a dock on the river. It has shared ACCESS to a community dock that is not on the property. There are also no clear directions on how to find the dock. If they are going to mention it, it needs to be easy to find. There were also creatures living in the ceiling that would come alive at night. We were awoken multiple times by scratching and scurrying of squirrels and or mice all night. Raccoons also were trying to get into the garbages both nights right outside our bedroom windows. Not restful. Inside, it was decently cleaned as far as grime and surfaces but there were a lot of spiders in the nooks and crannies and a few dropping from the ceilings. This location is awesome as far as great access to outdoor activities and restaurants and cute lil towns, but the property needs work. I hope they work on it because it could be a gem.

Michigan cabin

This is your typical Michigan cabin. It was clean, had everything you needed for cooking and relaxing. It is very quiet with woods everywhere. Great firepit. Very relaxing. It is close to towns, food and beaches. The fall colors were beautiful. We would book this again for great weekend getaway. If you are looking to be on the river with a dock, you have to walk a little distance. This is not on the river

Mom wins Monoploy

It was a beautiful area, absolutely loved everything about it. Definitely the feel of privacy and getting away from the hustle of our everyday life. The home was so secluded there were no window coverings needed and equipped with everything we needed and more. Even little things like bug spray, hot dog fire cookers, charcoal...which we brought all of these things. We had wifi...but who needs wifi in nature (well, my husband needed it), not as outdoorsy as me. Loved the firepit for the chilly nights. And after a long day on the water playing we loved the board cabinet full of board games....hence the title (I won). There are tons of hooks in the home to hang towels and bags. It was older and rustic but cozy and quaint. That was part of the charm that I enjoyed so much. The shower was a bit rough but not a deal breaker. It does need cleaned out, it did not drain well. But honestly I wasnt looking for the Ritz! I do wish I had understood that there was no direct view of the river from the house....I dont think the add was deceiving but rather I read more into it because I saw pictures of the shared dock. But it was an easy walk and nothing to complain about...it was a beautiful view. Platte river was amazingly crystal clear....I've never seen a river like this before. We will most definitely book again. I wonder if some of the other homes in the same area are owned by this company? I would love to bring a larger group and stay again. Thank you...much needed R &R!!

Sleeping bear getaway

Great location, lots to do in area. Nice cabin. Dock is not actually in property you have to walk approx 800 ft down a dirt road to a shared community dock.

Great Weekend Getaway

Cottage is nestled in a wooded area that was very appealing to me and my husband. Cottage was quaint, beds were comfy and the kitchen was well appointed. A few issues were: Bathroom lighting was very poor and the shade didn't roll up for additional natural lighting so I used a rubber band. The refrigerator was so close to the wall with baseboard it could not be fully opened which was annoying. Our first night there was a mouse or chipmunk in the ceiling of our room that it was gnawing in the ceiling waking me up twice. A problem which will cause the owner trouble down the road. All and all I would rent it again once these issues were fixed. Thank you!
