Week at the beach

We booked this location for its proximity to the beach and that it had an elevator and garage parking. One of the garage doors was nonfunctional for 4 days. The most negative impact was the lack of a working elevator. We had elderly family members who were essentially prisoners because it was too difficult to maneuver the multiple stairs into and out of the property. We were told the elevator would be repaired only to find out that it was not an option. This resulted in drastic changes of plans and prevented many family activities.The management has, thus far, made no effort to compensate for these issues.

Perfect Beachfront Home

This was home was perfect for us - one of the primary bedrooms looks out over the water. We started every morning here taking it all in over a cup of coffee. Super safe, everything you could need, and the management group was lovely!

Okay property.

While the house appeared nice online, we soon discovered nearly everything In the place was broken or old and worn. Place was not that clean when we got there (everything picked up but you could feel dirt on floor, couch had oil stains, and see hair on shower walls/floors). Kitchen had a broken cabinet, broken dishwasher, and the pots and pans were horrible. The place is just not kept up. It could be a beautiful house but it is clear the owners do not want to put any money into the upkeep. The chairs around the pool and on all the patios are some of the cheapest you can buy and several were broken. Also, what they don’t tell you is the road the house is on is the same road for public access to the beach. Tons of people constantly in road walking to and from the beach, beach was very crowded due to the public access. We had to have a car towed that illegally parked in the driveway blocking our car. For the price, I expected top notch accommodations and a private setting...not at all the case here.

Fantastic location! Outstanding mgmt team! The house has been neglected / needs a renovation.

We enjoyed the location on a more secluded stretch of Hilton Head beach. However, from the moment we walked in we noticed items needing repair....apparently, there is just not enough time during the busy season to deal with them. Here are a some of the items needing repair: the dishwasher (although brand new) was broken - the top tray was jammed into the unit, the living room fan didn't work, shower faucet handles didn't work properly - this made getting hot water an adventure, one toilet seat was cracked all the way through and another was very loose, the new freezer door handle was loose, two under counter cabinet draws were broken and unusable, and one of the shower doors was off its track. All that said, I have the highest regard for the property management team....they always responded to my (many) calls and immediately had folks out to the house to deal with the issues. I think they were as frustrated as we were that we were having to deal with all the issues....for the amount of money we paid, this should not have been the case. I would not rent this house again until major maintenance, or a renovation, has been done.

The home is in desperate need of repairs and updating.

The pool was not working at all, it was finally fixed and usable the night before our departure. The kitchen is inadequately stocked for 12 people. Not enough bowls, cooking and baking pans, etc. Would not recommend this unit. Really too bad because the location is great but for the money, the house is not worth it. The pictures are very misleading and deceiving, the home is not that nice. Our family stayed at this home for a week and I had to call about the pool not working almost daily. My cousin sat on a patio chair and fell right through it, the material was so rotted. The wood deck had nails and boards popped up all around the pool. The property mgmt company did come and repair the deck the best they could after I called them to say that it was a dangerous tripping hazard.

Great beach, spacious house-terrific for a multigenerational group.

We enjoyed a wonderful week on Singleton Beach. The beach is fabulous -not very crowded-and the house accommodated 12 of us very comfortably. The rental company was quick to address a leaky window and broken door. We'd definitely return.

Good location on the island, but needs a handy man.

The internet photos are very nice, but the reality is not as nice. The location on the beach is great, but the wooden deck walkway from the house to the beach is laced with screw heads that stick up 1/4 inch or more and are not friendly to kids feet. Shoes mandatory. The patio pool side furniture is worn and long overdue for changing. Most of the inside carpet is grossly stained or ripped. Some dining room power outlets have tape covering them, so they cannot be used. The kitchen was good and well equipped. Very functional. The top floor TV room was pretty nice and comfortable. They advertise an Elevator, but it is locked out from renter's use. The bottom floor garage is pretty darn nice to use to get 4 cars inside. The internet works, but is really slow. The lower bathroom shower control is worn and difficult to find warm water. Some of the bathroom doors don't lock or might have the latch bolt completely missing. Laundry room was big, nice and efficient. Some dining room ceramic tiles are cracked, but not a big deal. Its a rental, after all, not a show place. I think with some basic carpet repairs, plumbing fixes, internet speed, and outlets, this report would look much better.
