Great suggestion that we hadn’t considered until now, as we’ve never had a previous guest say they had an issue with wood being wet. But certainly makes sense!😁 We also appreciate your suggestion regarding providing an axe or hatchet, but being that the wood provided is already split and considering potential safety and liability issues, we don’t feel it’s warranted at this time. Although what you wrote is difficult to decipher & understand, you seem to be conveying there were certain things you did not find up to your standards during your stay. We, as well as our housekeeping crew, take great pride in our property’s cleanliness, and we strive to provide a clean, sanitized, safe environment. This is proven by our many 5 star reviews over a span of several years. In fact, we rarely have anyone comment that the home is anything other than very clean and comfortable. This is, of course, subjective, so we will definitely share your thoughts with our housekeepers to be sure they consistently do a great job, as they always have. Regarding the TV remote, we tried several ways (phone call, voicemail message and 2 emails) to be in communication with you several days before your check-in date to share with you there had been an unexpected issue with the remote and that a new one had been ordered, as well as the info for watching dvd’s. We did not get a response from you. The remote has now been replaced with a new one and all is working well. Our apologies for any related inconvenience during your stay. In the future, please take advantage of your ability to contact a property owner or manager anytime an issue comes up so that they can give guidance or suggestions to help.

Colette, thank you for choosing Hideaway at Hawkins for your accommodations! Your review is greatly appreciated and seems to indicate you had a wonderful stay. Wondering what could have earned that 5th star?! We do provide firewood and lighters, but ask guests to bring their own lighter fluid or kindling if they choose to use the firepit. Basic spices are provided in the kitchen cabinet. The nearest grocery store is Brookshires in the town of Hawkins, just 4 miles east from the lake on Hwy 80. We hope you'll consider the cabin for any future stay!

As much as we try, the leaves and pine needles are difficult to keep up with being that the lake area is heavily forested. Our cabin is in a beautiful setting surrounded by a canopy of pines and other trees and of course they shed during certain times of the year. So sorry you had issues with that during your stay. Although there is not a blower available to guests, there is a broom located in the bathroom closet that could be used to sweep the decks if leaves and such have fallen or blown onto them since the last time housekeeping was there to take care of that.
