Disappointed by the Gaps Between Reviews and Reality
We were surprised by how different our experience was from the glowing reviews. A few key items would have changed our decision to book and need attention: •There was no cell service and no landline. Even with WiFi, we couldn’t make calls or send messages — a major concern for safety and connectivity. •The house had a strong wood stove odor upon arrival and needed airing out. The thermostat consistently flagged “poor air quality” unless windows were kept open.•While the interior was very clean, the exterior needed upkeep. The screened porch furniture was dusty with cobwebs, and outdoor seating around the hot tub and patio was dirty and weathered.•The dock area had a strong odor from goose droppings, and bugs made sitting outside difficult even with repellent — though that’s to be expected in nature. •The living area downstairs wasn’t ideal for gathering to watch a movie — just a loveseat and two dining chairs.•The downstairs bedroom is right next to a loud AC return•The twin beds upstairs are very firm, and the foam mattress topper in the primary bedroom didn’t fit the bed properly, making sleep uncomfortable.This property has potential, but several aspects need attention to justify its 5-star rating.
