We had a memorable stay in the river view room of Hari Ganga Niwas for 5 days. The view from the river view room was grand – it overlooked the Ganges and also the balcony below where 2 priests performed Ganga-arati every evening. This is a newly renovated hotel. The hotel is located on the Ganges and has its own private ghat where the priests perform “hawan” daily. There is also a nightly bhajan performed by a talented local artist. The hotel restaurant provided great breakfast and dinner which included eastern and western menu items all freshly prepared. We enjoyed every aspect of the hotel – the cleanliness, the food, the service of all the staff members including the chefs and servers in the kitchen and the person who brought us foot soak with rose petals for our tired feet every night.
We have stayed in Taj earlier also and they all provide good service, but Hari Ganga Niwas hotel is one that provided truly exceptional service with great personal attention. The hotel is a bit interior into the bazar where cars are not allowed to go in. But the hotel has arranged an auto-rickshaw service to pick up guests from their drop off locations. This service is an excellent touch and made travel in and out of the hotel convenient – without this service, I think staying in the hotel would have been difficult.
