Our family traveled to Kauai shortly after Kauai rejoined Hawaii's Safe Travels Program, which allows visitors to avoid a quarantine if they have a negative COVID test prior to travel. Our travel experience was smooth, and Hanalei was the perfect destination for our family.
This house was ideal for many reasons. First of all, it was literally steps to the beach at Hanalei Bay right by the pier, as well as a very short drive to the businesses in town. Second, the house itself was very thoughtfully designed and well equipped. The house is small but still feels spacious and was just right for our family of four. We could see and hear the ocean from inside the house and still felt that we had ample privacy. Likewise we found everything we needed (kitchen equipment and utensils, bathroom amenities, beach gear, etc.) in excellent condition. The kind owners are on site in the main house and were responsive to questions by phone call or message both before and during our stay.
Honestly if it weren't for our dog back at home and the fortunate fact that our kids are in-person for school, we would have loved to stay forever.
Travelers should check Hawaii's as well as Kauai's travel guidelines for COVID, and (for at least the next several months) should also check accessibility to and around Hanalei as there are road repairs restricting vehicle access. Visitors who wish to visit Ke'e beach (at the end of the highway, at the beginning of the Kalalau trail) should also know that reservations are required.
