If you’re expecting “rustic charm,” keep looking. This property is completely run down and in serious need of major repairs. The floors are dangerously uneven, the bathroom was dirty, and the shower was tilted/uneven so badly it felt unsafe to use. The whole cabin felt slapdash and poorly put together—there’s no way anything here is up to code.I had read some of the negative reviews beforehand but thought they were just from people who didn’t understand rustic cabins. I’ve stayed in plenty of rustic places before and loved them—but this was not rustic, it was neglected. I now regret ignoring those warnings.When we arrived, the host was fixing a screen door and smelled of alcohol, which didn’t inspire confidence. The only positive was the water view, but that alone isn’t worth the risk and disappointment. Other reviews have said it should be torn down, and I agree—they’d be better off turning the property into campsites, which would require far less upkeep than this neglected cabin.Bottom line: I do not recommend staying here.

There was no documentation in the listing of no a/c in the listing and we were there the hottest weekend of the summer so far. We had really bad storms roll through and didn’t have any type of emergency plan we would be able to follow if a tornado would have shown up.

When you drive in the first thing you see is a massive amount of garbage. Old washes and dryers, didn't inspect it. The view they showed is her house, our view was treesThere's no heat, it's a long way to the lakes was not just outside my door like the photos showed, their on a cliff, so you have to go all the way to the other end to actually get to the lake. Not to mention hiw much she overchared me. The "handyman" came over drunk, to get the waterheater working, we went outside just in case. He never fixed the leak under the kitchen sink, but that was OK, I really didn't want him to come back! The cabin is sitting on concrete blocks, it moves when someone is walking around. This place is a total ripoff, usually used by fishermen. And if you complain she tells you to go find a hotel, but definitely no refunds. Never use this place, it's a dump.

Family Vacation

This cabin is in a great location and the owner had good communication. It is definitely rustic which I knew when booking and have no problem with. Two issues that need to be addressed are that it wasn’t clean. Every room had to be swept when I got there, floor needed moping but no mop. There was old moldy food in the fridge. One of the windows had the single glass pane out of the frame. With the other window having a broken pane. The pane fell out 2 other times during the stay.This is a big safety issue. The cabin needs all the old windows replaced.

Clean property but older cabin without amenities (tv, washer/dryer, ac). Host was accommodating by supplying fans for cooling.

Not As Advertised

We walked into the cabin, looked around, and decided to leave. We felt horrible for leaving because it appears the owners are trying to resurrect a resort from the 1970s. The previous reviews saying the cabin is rustic is being generous. Yes, I understand rustic, I grew up with a small family cabin that had an outhouse. This cabin rental is not safe. I agree with the previous comments - the cabins need to be raised and rebuilt. 1 star for the cabin, I added another star for the owner being responsive to our questions.

Disappointed

The cabins are poorly maintained. Holes in screens, squirrels got in and left droppings all over the tables and counter, got into food. Cabins need to be updated very old lead paint on windows, would not pass inspection. The location is great ,disappointed in the cabin . Tear them down and rebuild.

It’s not about the cabin

I read a review that said the place was run down and the floor uneven and that they wanted to leave right away. I figured I would take a chance and book it anyway. Yep, the cabin was old and the floor was uneven but if that’s really the most important part of your vacation, then this isn’t the place for you and you probably won’t find that in this price range. The reason you book here is the experience. The lake, the views, the sunsets, the fishing, and the memories. It was the recharge I so desperately needed and the place for priceless memories created with family. Just minutes from anything you could need, even Starbucks, yet secluded enough to be peaceful and quiet. We had a wonderful time. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. They offered to let us check in a day early free of charge since the previous renter was leaving the morning before our reservation. They helped us find a pontoon to rent which was really important to me because we had dogs and kids that were going fishing and I didn’t think a boat would work. Everyone at the resort was so nice as well. We had a great time.

VERY rustic!!!

Pictures look ok online. Floors are not level, building is very old and needs many updates/should be torn down. My wife wanted to check out as soon as we arrived.
