Great cabin but no hot water!!

Our first impression of the cabin was that we absolutely loved it. It’s very comfortable, clean and perfect for our ski weekend. However, four hours in we realized that we did not have any hot water and in the process of testing various faucets, water quickly started leaking through the basement ceiling onto all of my children’s clothing.We contacted the host immediately and learned that the upstairs shower needed to be recaulked. Realizing that wouldn’t be resolved during our stay, we decided the whole family would just use the downstairs bathroom. No biggie – except we still had no hot water. The mgmt company said they'd send someone out in the morning, however it wasn’t until around 4:45 PM that day that the person actually came. My in-laws waited in the cabin all day for them. It was working by 6pm – while we were out at dinner – and was not working again in the morning. Needless to say we didn’t use the hot tub since we couldn’t shower afterwards. The only solution offered by the host was to drive down the street to shower at another rental host.We washed dishes by hand in cold water (there was no dishwasher in the unit as described). I realize that plumbing issues happen at rentals, but I’ve never had an issue like this were it was simply not resolved until the stay was almost over and such poor communication from the management company.

Wonderful winter getaway

We loved the cabin. It was clean and had a good layout for multiple families. The beds were comfortable. The road and driveway were plowed but it snowed a lot during our stay so we were grateful we had 4 wheel drive. We only wish it was on the other side of Hwy 26 so we could walk into government camp.

Government Camp House

Overall the house is very nice, but if you have a large group or family the kitchen is extremely small in my opinion to work in. No dishwasher as well! Pulling out of house onto main road can be difficult, not the easiest house access, but neighborhood is quiet!! Hot tub is located on the third floor. Communication with manager wasn't horrible but it also was not guest friendly!! Two times during the trip we had people walk into house without warning!!! Upon departure, you have to take the key back to rental agencies , if you are not headed that way, it adds a hour to leaving!!

Beautiful, immaculate, cozy cabin ; compact floorplan leaves with lots of space for a family getaway with kids close to town amenities and ski slopes. Everything you need for a great getaway!

Peaceful and relaxing

My family and I had a wonderful time at this cabin. We found it to be a peaceful and relaxing place to recoup. The kitchen we was well equipped, the bedrooms were cozy and the hot tub was just what we needed. The only note I’d like to add is that the fireplace is a bit small. The property management will provide an “introductory amount of wood” so you’ll need to source firewood elsewhere if you want to have much of a fire going. The wood they sell in town was too long for the fireplace so you’ll want to bring a saw to cut it down in length. We would definitely come back!

Great cabin in great location

We stay in Government Camp every year at this time but first time at this location. It’s a nice place in a convenient and quiet location. Some sort of cable or satellite TV would be nice considering the rental cost, but I suppose you could bring a PC and stream too. Anyway, no complaints and dog friendly is a definite bonus!

Great Mountain Escape!

Great mountain cabin! We loved the location. We were able to walk to the ski shuttle to Timberline Resort. Always feel like it is a true vacation when we do not have to get into our car!

New Years Fun

My family ended up not feeling well so we didn’t do as much exploring but we loved the house and hot tub. I felt very safe walking alone in the area as well. I would love to return when everyone is healthy.

Great Cabin

We rented this cabin in the summer as a base to explore Mount Hood and go hiking. Location is fantastic; we hiked Old Salmon River and had dinner at the Timberline Lodge. The cabin is very cute and well equipped; we cooked breakfast in. Cabin layout was great for our needs; we would stay again. Note if staying in summer the loft gets really warm.

Great cabin ....

Mostly great. Nice location. Lovely cabin. Internet never worked and it appears to be a recurring issue. Also, the driveway never gets plowed, for some reason. So be prepared to shovel your way to and from your car to the home. But it's a lovely, cozy cabin. Great place to stay.

Weekend getaway for hiking and relaxing

Beautiful property grill worked fabulous hot tub was wonderful after a long day of hiking perfect location to trails and falls only thing that could have been better was if there was grill tools which i couldn’t find had ice pre made had a griddle for breakfast had a coffee maker and ample cups for drinks super beautiful patio w swing definitely want to come back for longer next time and with a bigger group

Cozy cabin in Government Camp

Black Squirrel cabin is beautiful, well maintained, comfortable and cozy. Could not pick a better location for hitting the slopes, hiking and walking into town. I wish we could stay longer... we will be back soon. Thank you :)

Nice cabin

Great location in Government Camp. It was the perfect spot for a relaxing weekend getaway. Very quiet location, clean property and the upper level hot tub was nice. Cabin was well stocked and has everything we needed. Can’t wait to go back.

Enjoyed the Home and location very much.

We really enjoyed your home and especially the hot tub in the evenings. WE had to leave a day early due to the power being shut off, hoping that there is some refund for not being able to stay the last night. We dropped the keys on Monday at 6:00PM on our way back to Portland. We would love to stay again in the future. Sincerely, Renee

Great home in amazing setting

Beautiful home, clean, rustic but very comfortable. Very close to Govy and all there is to do in the area. Small kitchen with no dishwasher, adequately stocked since we cooked while staying there-but would recommend larger serving bowls. Would also recommend back up propane tank for grill-it ran out on us the first night. Having to retrieve and drop off key to home in Welches is a bit inconvenient, a lock box at the home for the key would be a great improvement. Would recommend when staying in Mt Hood area, and I highly recommend Mt Hood area, its amazing.
