Beautiful and comfortable

Expansive ocean views, beautiful perennial gardens, walkable trails leading to rocky coastline, safe beaches that are fun to explore in high and low tides. This place is a family favorite!! Thoughtful and tasteful decor. We always regret leaving! Host is super communicative.

Terrific Gloucester house on the bay

We had a great stay at Pondover. The house was very well equipped and included lots of supplies. Lots of toys for kids and water activities. Fast internet. AC worked well. Overall a terrific property.

So very welcoming for kids of all ages but especially ones! Plenty of toys and games for both little and big kids: Legos, board games and kayaks (sm, med and larger) to name a few. We’ll be coming back for our 5th or 6th time in August 2025!

Another year, another fabulous vacation

We have been annual renters at this property for several years now, and once again my family and I had a fabulous stay. We enjoyed several sunny beach days and two rainy days. The house is equipped with everything you could possibly need for both types of weather. It has a variety of indoor and outdoor games and beach supplies, including chairs, umbrellas, and kayaks. My husband is the chef of the family, so he appreciates the well-stocked kitchen; he only packs his knives and spices when we vacation here. New this year was more comfortable outdoor seating. A curved couch on the deck provided a cozy spot for reading and birdwatching, while the table seating and swinging hammock and chairs under the deck offered a shady spot to enjoy the ocean breezes. This house has become our annual family getaway, and we plan on returning next year to create more wonderful memories.

Great visit to Gloucester

Very nice property on the west side of Gloucester with ocean view and glorious sunsets. The house was great for 4 of us (2 adults, 2 kids 4 and 7). Air conditioning worked great and kept us cool. All the appliances worked great including laundry and dishwasher and fridge/freezer. I love having a toaster oven! We used the kayaks and paddleboards on the water. Overall a great house and we would come back for sure.

Everything A Vacation House Should Be

Each year as a family we gather for a week of summer vacation together. This year we hit the jackpot! Highlights of this beautiful rental include: magnificent water views, sunsets, a garage full of outdoor toys for young and old, 2 sandy beaches within a short walk, a great room with ample seating for all, a deck with comfortable seating, a gas outdoor fireplace, toys galore inside the house, ping pong table and rec room large enough for all and a responsive owner who graciously left us lovely welcoming gifts. We truly felt at home!

My favorite house on North Shore!

This was our second time at this home, and it was just as wonderful as we remember. From the moment we walked in we felt relaxed. The owner communicates wonderfully with all the information needed, and every amenity we could want was there. Nothing but the best here!!!

Perfect for families, amazing views

The layout of the house is perfect for families, with the primary bedroom, second bedroom and full bath on the main (upper) floor and the remaining two bedrooms and second bathroom downstairs. The primary bedroom, living room, and deck all have amazing views. We enjoyed catching sunset every night. There is a great game room with ping pong and TV downstairs, and the house is fully stocked with linens, towels, and all the beach gear you could want. The house is a very short walk to the private beach that is perfect for a quick kayak or paddle board session. The hosts gave very thorough instructions and were available throughout our stay. They could not have made our stay any easier. Overall a great house in a great location with great hosts.

Oasis at the Ocean

Over the years my family and I have returned to this same property several times, which I think says it all when you go looking for a vacation property. The location of the property is unique and very special. Bird watching & frogs croaking are just 2 of the natural features besides the awesome ocean views and safe swimming areas. It is quiet & peaceful however it is close to everything you might need, be it grocery store of dinner out. The owners are so easy to communicate with and quickly address any questions or concerns you might have. The house is LOADED with games, yard & swim activities, kitchen items, comfy seating and plenty of room for all in a 4 bedroom/2 bath house. Even rainy days are fun! You will not be disappointed in any way with a to stay at this property.

Exactly the place I have been looking for!

I have spent many weeks in Gloucester during the Fourth of July week. I try to get a new home each time, and this one was my absolute favorite! The home is located on a very quiet and peaceful piece of land that provided the serenity and tranquility I needed. The home had everything I could possibly need, including perfect views, comfortable beds, and beautiful surroundings. Very convenient location in regards to nearby shopping and restaurants, but I rarely wanted to leave the deck. I highly recommend this place!!!

Wonderful Week in Gloucester

My family could not have enjoyed our stay more. The setting is picture perfect with a spectacular view. The house was incredibly comfortable and had everything we needed (and more). We enjoyed exploring the area and also just spending time relaxing at the house and at the beach just a two minute walk away. We went out to several delicious meals - all restaurants recommended by the hosts in our welcome letter. Karen and Ames so thoughtfully curate information about the house and area for their guests. We always felt incredibly well cared for and comfortable. Five stars all the way.

Lovely home and estate area

Amazing vacation home

Our hosts, Karen & Ames have everything well thought out, well stocked & organized! We have a large family with grandkids aged 2-10. This is a perfect family home! You only need to bring your groceries & your swimsuits! We had perfect weather so we were at the beach everyday! Lots to do in any weather-they have lots of games, ping pong, hammock swings, bikes etc! The views from the deck make ‘sitting’ a favored activity 😊 All the previous reviews (which go back for years) say it all, over and over! Wonderful summer stay.

Wonderful place!

We stayed here with our family of four and another family of four. The house was beautiful, very clean and nicely decorated. Everything we needed for our stay was provided, including sheets, towels, and everything we needed for cooking inside and outside on the gas or charcoal grills. The layout was perfect for our group -- putting the kids downstairs with their own TV, ping pong table, game closet, etc. It was an easy walk to the beach, where we had a fantastic time on the included paddle boards and kayaks. They also had plenty of chairs and umbrellas for us to use, complete with carts to get all of this equipment to and from the beach easily. The kids and adults all had a blast out on the water, paddling around, checking out all of the hermit crabs, crabs, lobsters, etc. The one beach has a nice sandy area to lounge in all day long, while the other side has a great shallow, flat area to play in when the tide is out. To add to all of this, the owners were very helpful and responsive with any of our questions. Would definitely recommend this place!

amazing sunset views

we loved staying at pondover. the location was incredible with multiple water views. i never wanted to go anywhere else. the views from the extremely comfortable deck were just dreamy. but i did drag myself several times down to the beautiful private beach. the house had everything we needed. we cannot thank karen and ames enough for our incredible week at pondover.

Fireworks!

On our last night at Pondover, we saw fireworks over the water, coming from a distant town. It seemed a very fitting way to celebrate our time there! My family and I really enjoyed staying at Karen and Ames comfortable, well-equipped and clean home. We spent a lot of time on the deck gazing at the ocean views and, when we weren't there, we were at one of the two private beaches that are just down the hill. Four of us loved using the paddle boards and I loved taking out a kayak. It was very convenient to find all the necessary beach related equipment right there - not just kayaks and paddle boards but also beach chairs, kick boards and umbrellas. I grew up not far away and I wanted to show my family charming Annisquam Village and the moving Fisherman's Memorial in Gloucester but mostly we just stayed put at Pondover. Why leave?

Amazing views

Karen's amazing hospitality matched the amazing views and location of this house. The kitchen was exceptionally well-equipped, and the house had plenty of beach towels and beach gear. We look forward to vacationing at this house again!

Beautiful home in peaceful enchanting setting

All of our family, from 5 yrs. to 70 yrs., enjoyed staying in this beautiful home in an idyllic setting. Lovely water views and fields of purple salvia can be seen from the kitchen, living room, bedroom, and family room, and spectacular sunsets can been seen from the deck. Our young grandchildren spent most of their days clamming and swimming at the small beach within a short walk from the house. The teenagers loved going to Good Harbor beach, a short ride from the house, and did not even have time to use the many kayaks and paddle boards that were provided. Adults explored the woods and water surrounding the house and found many interesting neighborhoods around Cape Ann. Gloucester's historic harbor, restaurants, bookstore, children’s store, second-hand stores, parks with beaches and walking and biking trails were all a short distance from the house. Books and games, including a ping pong table, helped keep kids engaged at night. After many family vacations on the cape, this vacation was easier even with covid19 restrictions. Karen was an excellent and gracious hostess, providing detailed information about her home and surrounding area and was always available for questions. We would definitely like to return if we don’t buy a house in this area! Many thanks Karen for a wonderful family vacation.

Easy to love, hard to leave!

My family loves vacationing in this well equipped home where opportunities for adventure and relaxation abound. The natural surroundings inspire all ages, grand children grow in independence, vocabulary and confidence as they explore the shoreline, cove, ocean and surrounding area. Reconnecting is important to our family and we are able to achieve this goal in this place as we play cook and read together and take in all the daily beauty from sunrise to sunset. We are very comfortable here, this was our 5th summer and look forward to repeating next summer.
