Maire was a warm, welcoming, and supportive host, who provided great information about the property and environs. The house was everything and more than we expected. We were a family of six, ranging in age from 8-80! We all had a wonderful time.

The property was absolutely stunning, clean, and had so much history. It was perfect for our group visiting Galway for a few days. Maire went above and beyond to host us and welcome us into the home by accommodating our arrival time, giving us a tour of the home, and even proving us some groceries! We would definitely recommend this property to anyone visiting Galway!

From the moment we arrived this home exceeded any expectations we had. Maire was the most welcoming, organized, hospitable host ever! The home and yard were absolutely stunning and unforgettable. You will never want to leave (mark my words!) The home was beautiful and roomy with so many options for people to lay and rest in their own corners of the house. Pure magic. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this place. First off, the location is stunning. Gorgeous property with plenty of space. We loved having a king bed in every room. The kitchen was perfectly stocked and we were grateful to do some laundry. The gardens are gorgeous. The house is within walking distance to Latin quarter, the waterfront and plenty of shopes and restaurants. But the real magic is in Maire, our host. I set out for this to be part of my mom’s bucket list trip and brought my family to Ireland. Maire took this upon herself to make everyone extra special, arranging to have flowers and champagne on arrival and the presentation flawless. I had coordinated a local chef to cook dinner for us, and once I discussed this, Maire went out of her way to contact the chef and make sure everything t was perfect. The night of our dinner I found her helping our chef clean up! The heart and soul she puts into this place is worth everything. The property is magic, with the host, it’s the total package. Hands down best place we’ve ever stayed abroad.

Lovely Place

Terrific house with plenty of room. Accross the river from the town but a short walk or cab ride. Maire is an excellent host. A little surprised that another one of her family was staying there in a separated room but was not a problem. Would go there again!

New Gold Standard Set!

Our stay at Maria’s beautiful home has raised our standard for the best possible travel experience. Our hostess was warm, kind, and respectful of our privacy. She lavished us with beauty and delicious accoutrements. The house is a well preserved home built with only the highest quality materials and has been lovingly maintained over the years. I have only the highest recommendations for Maria and Nile Lodge.

Perfect Stay

We had a perfect stay ay Nile Lodge. As the other reviewers have noted, this was our best experience ever renting a property. From the initial communication to leaving on our last day, we had no issues at all. The property itself is well maintained and in a perfect location for day trips or just walking into Galway. Of course, Marie was the perfect host. We enjoyed chatting with her, and she was great at suggestions for trips. The highlight for us was our trip over to Inishmore and the guide Marie arranged for us. We are now thinking about when we can go back.

Amazing visit!

Everything about our stay at Nile Lodge was above and beyond expectation! Marie welcomed us like family--and even supplied us with wonderful breakfast treats and excellent suggestions for how to spend our time in Galway. The house is absolutely gorgeous! It's historic and elegant but cozy and set within a quiet private garden, but is within an easy walk to all the main sites of Galway. And its great to have easy and safe parking right out front. I highly recommend!

Best hostess ever

Not only was the location, perfect for attending evens like Trad on the Prom down on the water, it was only a 15 minute walk into town where Quay street fun lured us to music dancing and laughing. . We loved staying at Niles Lodge! It’s a beautiful historic home that has positive energy. The gas station across the street had all kinds of food, ATM, newspapers and very friendly people.i would go back in a heartbeat! We also attended the Galway races and won on race 3!!! Took a taxi up to the Ashford castle and went on a falcon walk with halls! Very, very special and goosebumps getting a Guinness at Quiet Man Pub!

Exquisite Property, Extraordinary Host

This magnificent home is set on a acre+ of beautifully manicured lawns and gardens. It has all the peacefulness and quietude of a country home, yet it is located in the heart of Galway. It is a short walk to endless restaurants, shops, attractions and Galway Bay. Never have we stayed in a more perfectly situated home. The house itself is lovely with spacious rooms, wonderful king-size beds, working fireplaces, a well-equipped kitchen and all the comforts of home. There were fresh flowers in nearly every room and the housekeepers kept us well-stocked with fresh towels and linens. Our host, Maire, was simply beyond compare. In all of our many, many years of renting houses in the US and abroad, we have never had a host who was more attentive, more helpful or more thoughtful. And what lovely person she is. If you are looking for a one-of-a-kind, unforgettable experience for youself, your family or a group of friends in Galway, this is your place.

Best Holiday Ever!

Wonderfully charming property. Clean very comfortable beds, beautiful antique furniture, beyond fully appointed kitchen. The house was fun to come home to after a busy day. The children loved the secret gardens. Great location. Marie, the owner, was a fantastic host.

Perfect Christmas

We brought our teenage children back to Galway for Christmas. The journey from Australia is always long but getting easier as they grow older. The house is magnificent and the hospitality even better. Maire is generous in more ways than one. Her furnishings are the best. Fabulous antiques, well placed and functional. Beautiful sofas, king size beds, crystal champagne glasses and fabulous lamps to illuminate it all. Her bed linen is of the highest quality and plentiful. The location of the house is perfect for a 10 minute stroll into town or 5 minutes to Salthill and the Prom. We will definitely book this house when next in Galway and recommend you do the same. You will not be disappointed.

Absolutely wonderful stay

Our recent stay at the Nile Lodge was absolutely wonderful. The property is even more beautiful than the photos. Galway and Salthill sites and restaurants all within waking distance, and ample parking is available on the property. To top it off, Maire was a delightful host. We would highly recommend.

Fantastic property in the heart of Galway

We had such a great stay at this property. The house was clean, very well equipped, and the host was a great communicator and incredibly thoughtful. It was a 10 minute walk into town or to the boardwalk. The outdoor space was great for us as we lucked out with very warm weather. Would definitely recommend this property for your stay in Galway.

Amazing!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Nile Lodge. The house and grounds are beautiful, it was immaculately clean, the history of the house is fascinating, and Mairie was a wonderful host. She made us feel like we were family, while still giving us our space. She met us when we arrived and gave us a tour of the house and garden and the history of the house, and we got to chat again when we left. The location was great for walking into the center/old part of Galway as well as for getting out of the city quickly and exploring Connemara countryside. We spent 6 nights there and wished it could age been longer.

You will not be disappointed in any way. The house is as beautiful as the woman who owns it. The house is perfectly located for walking. The pubs and restaurants are within a 10 minute walk. You feel like your staying at a country manor. Wonderful!!!

Beautiful Home Perfect Location

Beautiful home and gardens. Great classic furnishings and accessories with all the modern amenities. Nothing was overlooked by the owner who went above and beyond preparing for our stay with specialty groceries and beverages upon our arrival. Spring flowers throughout were extra special. Unforgettable Experience

I am not even sure where to begin with this review. I booked Nile Lodge as part of a trip to celebrate my son and his friend who just graduated from college but missed almost two years of their experience due to Covid. We decided to take a trip to Ireland where all of our families are from to celebrate. From the moment we arrived, Maire and her staff made this the most memorable VRBO experience we have ever had. By the time we left, we felt like family and wished we had stayed longer in her amazing home as we felt like we had only just begun to experience all the area had to offer after three nights. Maire gave us so many great tips about things to do in the area and treated us like family from the moment we checked in. We will most certainly be back in the future and only hope Maire has availability the next time we are in Galway!
