Wonderful

The property was meticulously maintained. The views were absolutely gorgeous. Bike riding around the point was fantastic. Our dog loved the dog water ramp. She would have water retrieved all day if we let her. Plenty to do in the area. Beaches, shopping, and dining were all excellent. The people were top notch. This was our first VRBO experience. Can’t say enough good things about the owners. Made sure we were fine but also gave us our privacy. The informational binders they made really gave us a good starting point to explore the surrounding area. We would absolutely return in the future.

Beautiful property, super clean, very accommodating!

This was a great vacation! My husband and I, our 11 year old daughter and her 10 year old friend, and our dog Oliver stayed for a week. My biggest joy was how CLEAN it was! I usually struggle staying anywhere other than my home and I didn’t struggle at all here. The owners take such good care of the property. We spent so much time on their pier catching crabs and fishing. The girls had a blast! The area is very private with nice flat roads for easy bike rides. The putt putt golf course is an easy relaxing activity that you don’t have to go elsewhere and pay to do. The view is beautiful and the landscaping is spectacular! The owners are so caring and accommodating. We walked in to find a welcome basket specifically for our dog with toys and treats in it. So cute! Our dog is very neurotic and was petrified to walk on the floors upstairs. Could have been the color, the shine, who knows. When I told Karla about it just to share a funny story, she understood his fears completely and brought over rug runners for us to use which solved the whole problem. I hesitated when I read that we would be sharing the property with the owners and the other rental cottage, but it wasn’t an issue at all. It was like staying at a 5 star resort! They provide so many extras like laundry detergent, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, beach towels, bikes, even a pump for the bike tires! Whether you’re looking for a relaxing get away for two, or a neat family vacation, you can’t go wrong here!

Fun at the Fish House

Our vacations revolve around quiet, getting-away-from-it-all type vibes and the Fish House has them! Myself, my spouse, and our 2 kids (11, 12) had plenty to keep us entertained both inside and out without the need to leave. We picked up groceries at the closest grocery (Food Lion in Mathews) on our way there and settled in. Indoors, we found many games, quick internet, and I loved that towels and shower toiletries were provided. Kitchen was well stocked and up to date, and the outdoor grill was ready to use. We made daily use of each deck and enjoyed the swinging chairs below the deck when drying off from the pool (which was sparkling clean and well maintained). Outside, we used the kayaks, rode the well maintained bikes, and played Putt-putt at least one round per evening. Kayaks are both tandem style and there are both adult and child-size life vests (small children likely would need their own properly fitting floatation device). The property is wonderfully private from outside properties, and offers plenty of personal space from the other rental on property. We did not travel with pets, but at the request of my 11 yr old, we met the owners dog who is calm and well-behaved. Note for those with small children or any with mobility issues: the only indoor stairs are the spiral stairs to the bedrooms which could pose a safety risk (there are accommodating outdoor stairs to that level). We loved our stay and will definitely be visiting the Fish House again soon! Thanks Karla

Lots of sun, fun, and crabs 🦀

We had a fantastic stay at The Fish House! Karla is very responsive and cares for her guests! I can't say enough wonderful things about her and the property! We fished from the dock, kayaked, star gazed, swam in the pool, and played a bit of putt-putt. The gardens make it feel like a small tropical paradise! To include the butterflies! I would recommend it to friends! I have to mention that I am in better shape now than when I left because there are a few more stairs on the property than I am used to, but we were very active and back and forth from the house to the dock. Thank you, Karla! I hope we can stay again!

The property was amazing! Karla was a great host! There are so many little things they provide. Close to lots of fun things but nice to stay off the beaten path. The house was clean, dog friendly (our pups loved it), so many extras and the pool and dock. We liked staying off the beaten path. We hope to visit the fish house again. Would highly recommend

Fish House - A Lovely Place to Stay

The Fish House is a really cute place! The check in process with Karla was seamless and she even allowed us to check in 1/2 hour early since we made decent time with our 11 hour drive. Once arrived, I was really impressed with how clean and organized the place was! Everything was labeled like light switches, inside the cabinets in the kitchen, etc. Super nice to have some of the kitchen basics supplied as well. We traveled with our dog and, although he had no interest (he's a senior), there was a doggie care package left for him on the counter with toys, cookies and a little note. Karla is so very thoughtful about everything at her place, we really felt welcomed. I did have to reach out to her on just a couple questions and she was always VERY responsive on text, even facetiming with me once when I couldn't figure out how to turn on her outside hose! I had some concerns about a "shared" property with the owners (never had that experience before), but they were rarely seen and respected our space for sure. We took her advice on a number of the restaurants in her resource booklet (and we were happy with all the food) and although we didn't try any of the excursions, you can tell some thought and effort went into creating this resource for her guests. The pool was not open as we were "off season" and it was too early, so I cannot comment on that. Grounds and property was beautiful and well cared for. Be prepared though, the location is definitely "off the beaten path" a bit, so it is at least a 15-20 minute ride to restaurants and grocery stores, it's even a little bit of a ride to the closest beaches. The Fish House is a great place to stay!

Perfect Getaway

This was a perfect place for relaxation and fun for our entire family. Kayaking was amazing, the view was awesome and the house was equiped will everything we could need. Karla was quick to help us out when anything came up and so helpful with all the recommendations for things to do and where to eat. Our dog was spoiled with the toys and treats too! We would highly recommend Grandview on the Bay!

Nice Getaway with all the Amenities

Perfect getaway for four (two humans and two fur babies). The owners were very pleasant and were gracious to allow us access to their property that had all the amenities...kayaking, dog ramp (where our one pup got to swim for the first time), pool, grill, numerous outdoor seating options, bikes, and mini golf. We enjoyed it all! The property is not close to much, but we were happy for the peace and quiet in the very cute and organized fish house. It had everything we needed :-) We would highly recommend the property to our friends and family.

Beautiful and relaxing

We had an amazing stay at the fish house, in town to celebrate my son's birthday. The owners left a little birthday bask for him and used a birthday pillow case in the kids room. We brought our dogs and there was everything they needed at the house and they enjoyed being outside. We played mini golf, sat outside in the yard and on the beautiful decks with a view of the bay. It was only about 45m to an hour from Williamsburg and we visited Busch gardens twice. Would stay hear again in a heartbeat!

Grandview on the Bay is a piece of Heaven on Earth

The Fish House was by far the nicest VRBO we have stayed in. From the check in process to the check out process our vacation was perfect. The weather wasn’t overly cooperative in the beginning but we didn’t mind because the home has everything you could want to lay low and relax. Thank you to Karla who was thoughtful in every way . I would highly recommend staying at The Fish House truly is Heaven on Earth!

Fishy is Good

Had a great time at the Fish House. The location was a bit deeper in the middle of nowhere than we expected, but it was a lovely retreat regardless. The space was clean, and the only issue we had (dropped internet connectivity) was fixed in less than 15 minutes with a quick text to our hostess. The grounds were immaculately kept, and we were given our privacy, about as much as we could ask for.

Fun weekend adventure!

We had a lovely stay over Labor Day weekend. We enjoyed all the amenities the property had to offer - pool, bikes, mini golf, kayaks and crabbing. We had a lot of fun exploring the nearby town with a unique variety of shops and restaurants. Also so many thoughtful amenities for our 4-legged family members! Would totally go back again!

A wonderful vacation!

The Fish House is an absolute gem! This was our first time staying in a rental property and this has definitely set the bar very high. The house is spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated and has all the comforts of home. The hosts really have thought of everything, down to the treats and toys for our pup which were a wonderful touch! The grounds and pool are beautifully maintained and although the pool is a shared space we had it to ourselves every day. The mini golf and kayaking were great fun - there was more than enough to keep our 12 year old entertained for hours on end. The hosts are very helpful, happy to assist and answer questions, but also very discrete. If you are in need for a relaxing vacation, in a beautiful and quiet setting then look no futher. You will not be dissapointed!

Perfect change of pace

We usually take vacations to shore towns and are on the go the whole time. This year, we were looking for something different and found it at the Fish House. There were plenty of activities to keep us entertained on the property, that we could do pretty much whenever we wanted, no rushing around required this trip! The property was serene and relaxing. The house was clean and pretty much looked brand new! All the comforts of home, including the little things, perfected our stay. The hosts were attentive but we also felt like we had the property to ourselves. We had a fabulous stay!

Great place / great location

The house is even nicer than on the photos. It is roomy, very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our lunches on the main deck in early May. The small park (or big garden) around the house, the mini-golf, the access to the deck to the river and kayaks were very enjoyable for our 8-yr old. The hosts are very nice (and discrete - this was under Covid restrictions still) and will do more than you ask for to make your stay pleasant. We like to change places every time we get away, but in this case, we may go back.
