Horrible smoke smell

The property was conveniently located for a weekend trip for a wedding. Everything was clean, unfortunately the room smelled HORRIBLY of cigarette smoke. Luckily we were busy and not in the room the majority of the trip. Any longer than a few hours at a time to sleep, we would not have been able to stand it.

Smelled terrible

The roomed smelled like a smokey bar. It’s says none smoking but that’s not the case. There were 2 air fresheners that were empty and a room air purifier that didn’t not help. I asked for someone to contract me about it and that never happened. I was told on my initial complaint that other residents smoke therefore it travels to the other properties. We spoke with several other guests poolside and NONE experienced this problem.

Nice but no cigar

The room was nice, great bed, great view. Problem was the room had been smoked in and was very overwhelming. Vacasa corporate was very responsive but no response from local management during our entire stay. Please, if you smoke and there is a balcony, SMOKE OUTSIDE and don’t ruin it for the next couple renters.

Rocky check in. Lost private beach

Checkin was rocky at best. The code we were given wouldn’t work, and it took 50 minutes of standing at the door with our belongings in high 90 degree weather waiting for management to get us a new code. The studio is nice and clean. We were told we needed to bring linens; the linens were on the bed. It took at least two flushes to get the paper to flush. Otherwise there was plenty of towels and was clean. We love the positioning of this Studio as to location. I called management on the 2nd day of our 4 day get away vacation to inquire where the advertised beach was. Just so future tenants know; the quaint little beach advertised is located at building B which is down the street from the building A we stayed in. We will try different accommodations in the future.

First time using VRBO and Vacasa

Never had such an easy process finding a rental! This was so much easier than booking a hotel. Pirate Walk was everything we had hoped it would be. The unit was just as described and perfect for our short stay. The only drawback was the intense smell of stale cigarettes. You can literally smell it as you approach the front door of the unit. There was a “non-smoking” sign in the unit, but it has obviously been smoked in for years. All of our belongings smell of cigarettes even now that we’re home. Will definitely be back to Pirate Walk, but will request a different unit. We loved the area and can’t wait to come back!

Great rental!

Owners have updated a few things- new couch and cooktop burners. The only downsides here were the tiny kitchen sink (the bathroom sink is actually bigger) and the ever lingering smoke smell - we saw it in the reviews and brought our own air freshener; there is a toaster oven, but bring your own potholder. Overall a great stay, at a good price. Vacasa was great to work with and made it a point to text/call with updates and check in/out info.

Amazing!!

This property was amazing. I received more communication from this listing then I ever have and I’ve used VRBO for years! The property was just as described and the check in process was easy. Even when I had an issue, I was able to immediately get someone on the phone and it was taken care of quickly. If I’m ever back in the Destin area I will definitely stay here again!

Strange start!

Upon arrival, the front door was open, I called the management number given on the e-mail and since it was after 5 pm, I had to leave a message, no one ever got back to me, I then called Vacasa, and they had someone out there within 10 minutes, everything was fine, but never did find out why the front door was open. Rest of the trip was great!

Just ok.

The unit smelled terribly of smoke that was coming in through the neighboring unit. The air system was pulling air from neighboring units. I called and was relocated with no problems through Vacasa. This saved my vacation! Very pleased with the customer service but overall would not consider the unit at pirates bay in the future

Relaxation Poolside

I was extremely pleased with my stay at Pirates Bay. The unit was immaculate and exactly as described. Communication was very clear regarding check in and check out. The condo was well appointed with everything I needed at my fingertips. Furnishings were very comfortable. The condo was centrally located for a variety of activities yet peaceful and relaxing when at the unit. Nice views of harbor and pool.

Awesome quick get away

We came for a quick getaway and my birthday. This will def. be our spot from now on. Room was perfect for us. Pool was beautiful, water view was amazing, and the hidden beach area was heaven. Very tropical feel for sure. Price point was great! Location was perfect close to everything did not have to spend a lot of our time driving. Only prob we had was draining of tub and bathroom sink and would do the property good to upgrade the bathroom shower a bit even put in a different shower head Seemed very hotel like and this property would have been perfect. Over all an amazing time. We will be bk!!! Highly recommend property!!
