Beware there are SAFETY CONCERNS at this property!! This is a long review but I thought sharing our experience would help with your decision to rent this property.
When we first arrived the remote to the gate was damaged, duct taped shut AND inoperable. So in order to drive up to the house each time you have to send someone to the house to open the gate by walking into the wooded area around the gate. This was highly inconvenient as it was raining all 3 days of our stay! I sent an email to Vacasa’s customer support line within an hour of our 3 day stay and heard nothing back. This should have been a warning of what we were in for.
SAFETY #1) Although part of staying here is experiencing the 1990 style living, a key update is needed to the gas stovetop. The knobs are so old that it’s hard to determine how to operate them to the point one knob was overtightened and broke off as mentioned by a previous guest. We smelled gas and could not find where it was coming from so we had to shut the gas off and open the windows.
SAFETY #2) There was a power outage as night approached and the gate at end of the driveway was stuck shut CLOSING US IN all night. Maintenance didn’t know how to manually override it. This did not make for a restful night!
SAFETY #3) There were no working emergency supplies, -0- of the 4 plug in style flashlights worked. It made for a very dark and unsafe 8000 sq ft house!
We called Vacasa’s customer service line to report these 3 safety issues when they occurred and thankfully, they sent a maintenance man over who I think had never been to the house and basically just paced back & forth waiting for the cleaning person to call back for directions on who the power company was (to report outage & get updates) and if they knew how to override the gate. It was too dark for him to work on the stovetop so we just left the gas off. After an hour of pacing, I asked him to leave as it was apparent he had no idea of how to solve our issues and the pacing was adding to our stress!
This property has so much potential if only given an update to the stovetop, gate opener and emergency supplies. It’s also in need of a thorough deep clean.
Note: I have registered a detailed complaint w/Vacasa which 1 week later is still unanswered. I will update if I get a resolution.
