Very nice home, bad management
The property is beautiful, hot tub didn't get hot enough to use and nit having a kettle big enough to make chilli, really sucked. I couldn't cook the meals I was prepared to make. Asked for a kettle as description said stocked kitchen. Was told to use crock pot. 🖕

Fall Break Getaway
We really loved our stay! Lots of room for our family of 4 and our 2 dogs. Loved reading out on the deck. Spent a lot of time play games and relaxing. Would definitely go back, maybe when it's snowing.

Peaceful serenity
Great spot- secluded and quiet- be ready for a bumpy ride there but it’s so worth it! Saw three moose on our drives in close to the cabin. Hot tub was so peaceful! Host was very responsive and friendly. Would stay again!

Beautiful home - peaceful and secluded area!
We loved this property! The house is large, light, airy with huge windows in the great room overlooking the forest and the mountain view with comfortable furniture throughout. It was immaculately clean and well cared for. The huge deck is a wonderful place to perch and listen to the nature sounds and enjoy the view. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen very well stocked with any cooking utensils and pans needed (we did not find the issues earlier reviews mention). There were plenty of extra supplies (extra paper towels, garbage bags, toilet paper). The house is secluded (can’t see any other neighbors), quiet and peaceful. The property management company was great; very responsive and helpful with any questions before and during our stay. We would definitely stay here again. We did not use the hot tub, grill or fireplace so cannot comment on those features. A few things to note: 1. The last section of road up to the home is no joke. The listing requires a 4 WD vehicle in winter though we came in August and one section is both steep and rocky. We used a route the opposite way that’s smoother when going on excursions (the bonus was it goes by a lake area where we saw moose daily). 2. The downstairs King bedroom is not enclosed. There is a moveable screen that separates the bed from the sitting/TV area. 3. Bring soap for the shower. The property management company will instruct you to bring all needed toiletries and this includes soap or gel for the shower.

A True Mountain Getaway
The house itself is gorgeous! Such an amazing location and the wrap around deck and great room with floor to ceiling windows really were the highlight for us! Would definitely come back!

Fantastic cabin

Enjoyable
Overall, the property was great and we had an enjoyable time. Observations and suggestions: -handrail on front stairs loose/broken -on/off knob on lamp in main floor bedroom broken/missing -hot tub issues-temperature and jets not working properly-texted but never received reply -cooking utensils(pots and pans)need serious upgrade -plenty of firewood cut and stacked, but very minimal amount split and dried for use We are very flexible and were able to minimize these issues and work around them. This is a great property, and with some additional attention to some details, it can remain so and continue to be enjoyable for all who choose to stay there.

Amazing view and comfortable home
This was a great location, and we really enjoyed our time at the house. There was plenty of space for everyone including a nice area for the kids to get loud downstairs while the adults visited on the main level. The hot tub was great. It was lovely to have a wood fireplace on one floor and a gas fireplace on another, and there was plenty of wood provided for the fireplace. Normally in a location like this, we wouldn't be all that interested in TV, but Thanksgiving football is a watcher for us, so it was a little bit of an inconvenience not to have TV access on the main floor. The managers were very responsive to all of our questions and needs. The beds were quite comfortable and the bedding was nice, but the only pillows provided were fairly flat which isn't my preference. Among rentals, there is a wide variety in which items are provided - renters should be aware that this rental is on the lower end of that spectrum - no shampoo or conditioner, no dishwasher soap, only one trash bag, and a starter of toilet paper and paper towels. We selected this home in part because it is pet friendly - wonderfully, it could have passed for a pet-free home in cleanliness. Overall, it's really a beautiful place, and we feel very fortunate to have spent our Thanksgiving here. We would definitely stay here again.

Best secluded property ever!
This home was extremely clean and well cared for. It was so clean, that I have to say it set a standard for all rental homes. The carpet was brand new on the two upper floors, everything in the kitchen was spotless, and the furniture was fresh and comfortable. The grounds around the home were super fun to explore and well maintained. There are no other homes in sight so I really appreciated the privacy! I would certainly stay there again:)

Wonderful, secluded property
This house is nothing short of amazing. While yes, you do have a short bumpy ride up a mountain, that is to be expected if you want seclusion. There are breathtaking views of the mountains (14ers), wonderful trails for hiking within a short walk or drive and all amenities anyone could ask for. Fairplay is an awesome little town a brief drive down the mountain with very nice people-you must explore! Breckenridge is a short drive away as well and very convenient. We had a wonderful time at Alpenhaus and I highly recommend this property!

Stunning Surrounding View
This mountain property was absolutely gorgeous, it had plenty of space for a family of 8, and it was located in a secluded spot in the middle of a pine tree paradise. Looking out the tall windows in the main room gave us a stunning view of the mountains and forest every single day, and it was fantastic to finally unplug from city life. The upstairs deck was a lovely spot to sit quietly, watch the sunrise in the morning while drinking a hot cup of coffee and appreciating the sweet sounds of nature. It was also a pleasure relaxing down in the hot tub under the stars and the full moonlight in the evening. My boys and the dog were in heaven all week exploring the woods, being wild outside and adventuring around the area. We also enjoyed cozy family time each night by the fireplace with all the wood nicely cut, ready and available to burn. Our family had an absolutely exquisite time and would definitely consider renting this property again in the future for another family getaway in the mountains. However, there were several things we noticed upon arrival that should be fixed for the comfort & safety of your future guests: 1) Fire extinguisher was empty. 2) Spray nozzle at the kitchen sink is broken. 3) Light above the stove was burnt out & needs to be replaced. 4) Recliner chair in the loft had a broken off leg and did not work properly. 5) Two of the lamps were broken. 6) Not enough wine glasses/ dishes for the family. 7) Three of the small windows were broken & would not close shut (main bath/ bed & master bedroom). 8) No basic cleaning supplies to maintain property (window cleaner/kitchen & bath spray). 9) Hot tub buttons were broken (can't adjust temperature or spray pressure). Suggestions: It would be helpful to also have some small dressers in the bedrooms to put personal belongings in as well as providing a few more blankets since it gets quite chilly at night.

The views are spectacular,...we saw moose, elk and deer. The management company was very helpful! Our stay was the relaxing, outdoor experience we hoped for. Highly recommend. It takes about 15-20 minutes to get to the house from the main road, and an SUV was helpful to have.

Great location, bit of improvement needed
Great spacious cabin. Was able to fit our family reunion just fine. The proximity of Breckinridge was also a plus. We found all we needed to feel comfortable. Some small notes: the main floor patio is rather large and is really missing some shade and rocking chairs to enjoy that view. Outdoor table was also really missed. I mean a kitchen and grill are right there, but absolutely no way to seat everyone outside. And main concern: master bathroom has a large window… and absolutely no cover. I mean anyone passing by the window will see all of the inside of the bathroom… Otherwise, loved the woods, and the moose passing by the cabin. Hummingbird feeder would really benefit the place…

Perfect Stay at Alpenhaus in Fairplay, CO
A small class of recently graduated high school students from Minnesota wanted a beautiful place to stay in Colorado. As a brother to one of the students and a friend to the others, I was asked to come along to enjoy this time with them. They came across this house and it seemed too good to be true! However, when we got there it ended up being even better than we imagined 😍 Absolutely gorgeous house and even more beautiful scenery/landscape of the whitecapped rocky mountains. The outdoor hot tub was icing on the cake, as it was such a cool experience chilling in there at night in the middle of a mountain. Me as well as the others I stayed with were absolutely raving about this place while we were there and even moreso after we finally had to say goodbye to it. Definitely would go back to it again if the opportunity presents itself. The homeowner was great at checking in with me to see how we were doing and if we needed anything - great communication! The only slightly negative thing about our experience was the last stretch of roads before arriving at the house. They were all dirt and very bumpy. But what else can you expect when you’re literally driving to a house on a mountain? It was so worth the few minutes of bumpy roads though because once you arrive at the house you fall in love with it all over again ❤️ Thanks for letting us stay at your place! Hope to be back someday :)

Great house
This is a great place to stay. We arrived on time and the cabin had been cleaned and was ready for our eight day stay. It snowed in the mornings almost every day and then the sun would come out and melt the snow. Once we shoveled the first day the snow was light and melted without shoveling. The book with the info on the hot-tub and other need to know items for the house was spot-on. I brought dry wood and the fire place was really almost all we needed for heat. The windows provided great views and heat for the day. We loved this place. Kitchen was great, living room was cozy and hot tub was awesome at night when it was 30 degrees out.........What a view. I don't know who planned the tree cutting, but it leaves for a lot of privacy and great views at the same time. The warning of the roads seems warranted but i have small 4wheel drive and did fine even after the 6 inch snow the second day when I went into Fairplay for a few grocery items. The only other vehicle we saw the whole time we were there was a small car. WISH WE WERE STILL THERE...Did not see a bear, but did see a Moose pair, lion tracks and listened to the coyotes in the evening while we were in the hot tub.

Just what we wanted!
Beautiful, large and well maintained house, close enough to slopes and to town, but at the same time we were in the middle of wilderness. Absolutely perfect down to the momma and baby moose that walked by one morning.

Great Location and Price
Booked this cabin for us and another couple for a snowboard/ski trip, while it is about 30min from breckenridge that was perfect for us because the view was immaculate, the cabin was secluded, and the cost was within our budget. The cabin was clean and beautiful. As noted in the information, I would keep in mind that it's important to have a 4 wheel drive vehicle to get here, especially in the winter- which is something you need just about anywhere in Colorado in the winter. Great place to stay!

Just what we needed
The home and property were absolutely perfect and just as described. The hot tub was perfect after a long day skiing. The kitchen was stocked with all the cooking utensils needed and even some dried goods such as seasoning and condiments. The property was beautiful and peaceful and we even saw a moose nearby. The information provided ahead of time on the need for 4WD was spot on and needed. While it was slow getting there during the snow, it was worth it. I would definitely recommend this home and would come back again.

Amazing Alpenhaus!!!!!
Wow, what an amazing vacation we had in Colorado and our stay in the Alpenhaus!! The house is very well appointed and has a million dollar view! We celebrated Christmas & the New Year with our family and could not of picked a better place to stay! 8 adults and we were very comfortable and had enough space for all of us! The owners have decorated it very nicely and had some very nice touches with a Christmas tree, chocolates and a personalized Christmas ornament for a keepsake of our stay! We brought our pet and it was very pet friendly too! The hot tub was great after skiing!! We got snow 2 days over New Years and the driveway and roads were quickly cleared so we could get out and ski the next day! We were very impressed!!! We skied Breckenridge and it was an easy drive from Fairplay into town. Also, the people of Fairplay are so friendly and helpful! Highly recommend the High Alpine Sports to rent your skiis and also Prather's Market for all your grocery needs!! We will definitely rent this home again!! Thanks for making our family vacation a dream come true!!!!!

Nice getaway in the mountains
This was our second time staying in this area, we enjoyed the cabin for a family vacation. Check in was very easy, upon arrival we noticed quite a bit of trash around the exterior of the house which was a little off putting. Things like clothes hangers, a dirty cup on the deck and other misc items that obviously hadn't blown there. We did a quick walk through the cabin and then started to get settled in. While my husband and I were unpacking, our kids were in the basement and came running up to tell us that are youngest child ate a piece of candy he found on the floor downstairs. It took a lot of time to figure out that it was in fact a piece of candy (still quite gross) and not medicine that could have made him sick. We were particularly worried about this because I had already found a Tylenol on the upstairs chair. The master bedroom linens had sizeable holes in them, which I was surprised were still being used because another reviewer for this cabin had mentioned that also. We also found a dirty tissue and q-tip by the upstairs king size bed which really made us question how clean the cabin was. A day into our stay the kitchen and master bedroom lights stopped working, we tried everything we could think of but there was nothing in the garage or basement utility area that was fixing the problem. We didn't want to have mgmt come out so I was prepared to do without but my husband went around the outside of the cabin and found a breaker box that fixed the lights. We enjoyed the hot tub and property. The kitchen had everything we needed. We were disappointed that all of the firewood was stored uncovered so none of it was dry. We brought several pieces to the covered patio the first day and they worked okay. It was snowy when we were there and we got to see a mom and baby moose walk across the property, we really enjoyed being a good distance from neighbors and we would recommend to anyone looking for a nice break from busy life.

Close, but not perfect
Beautiful view. Lovely wrap around deck. Carpets need to be shampooed or replaced. Limited kitchen basics…very small frying pans, no spatulas other than metal ones for the grill. Didn’t end up using the hot tub, so unable to comment on that. Directions to find the place a little confusing, could be we just misunderstood them. But street signs were a little difficult to see or tell which road was which, one sign was missing one of the street names and the road is ROUGH. And that was the better of the two routes there. The other route there like going 4 wheeling off road! None of that was the owners fault. We were warned about the rough road and we did end up coming after dark, which made it much more difficult to find. We contacted the rental company the 1st morning about the gas fireplace…the automatic fan never came on…and that the light in the ceiling fan on the main floor wasn’t working, and that there were no hand towels anywhere. They responded only about the towels, saying they'd check with the house cleaner and we never heard anything else back from them. (I did eventually find the towels on my own. Just missed them on my first search…my fault.) They never responded to the fireplace or light questions. We went to use the gas fireplace again on our last night there and it didn’t work at all. We notified them about that in the morning before we left. Hopefully they have taken care of it. Lots of little issues, none of them major, but added up enough to keep me from giving them a higher rating.

Improvements Needed
This property was picturesque. Management was very helpful. Owner investment in bandwidth and maintenance highly recommended. Bandwidth was limited, no Alexa or Streaming. Located 1 hour south of Breckenridge, over Hoosier Pass. All 3 bedrooms had threadbare carpets. No functioning DVDs, management replaced one. Cobwebs hanging from Atrium and Chandelier. Basement bathtub does not hold water. Hot tub was no soo hot... Torn bedding and L.R.cushions tattered. Railing loose on outside staircase. Broken box spring in second bedroom. Owner must perform repairs.

Wonderful Family Trip
We had six family members total in our group, had a great time! The area is beautiful and FairPlay Co is an adorable and fun town and is about a 20 minute drive away. Many good hikes close by, I recommend Pennsylvania Mountain it’s trailhead is 15 minutes from the cabin. Check in and out was very easy and the cabin was clean. It could use some new pillows, other wise it all went well.

Mountain Getaway
This is a great spot for a mountain getaway. We were very close to fishing, hiking, and mountain biking. The house was clean and thoroughly stocked. We loved looked at the stars from the hot tub.

Winter Vacation
Easy rental, wonderful spot in the mountains, cabin had majority of products needed for stay. Bought our groceries in Conifer on drive in, and hit Breck the day after, and everything we needed to make dinner.
