Cabin stay
We had a 3 night stay with another couple and 3 dogs. Host was amenable to the extra pup with added fee which we understood. Cabin was clean but quite dated from decor to appliances to bedding. The downstairs bedroom had bedding on it that, while clean, was extremely worn.
Lighting was an issue. While overhead lights were numerous, there was only one lamp in the living room (with a broken shade) so at night you either had to choose full overhead lighting or nearly complete darkness. There was only one very dim light in the downstairs master making it very hard to read before bed - especially if you slept on the side without the lamp.
The kitchen was stocked adequately with pots, pans, plates, etc and was easy to move around in. The shades on both the kitchen window and the dining window were crooked and broken and provided little privacy.
The grounds themselves were nice. Easy access to the river for fishing. Our pups were able to navigate into the river at one spot for a swim. The outside firepit was a nice gathering place and we enjoyed having the grill right outside the back door.
The deer were amazing...anywhere from 5-15 each night right in the yard. Lots of fun to watch.
Cossawattee Resort can be annoying to navigate but this cabin is located in a good spot...no treacherous hills or drop offs. It would be helpful for the directions to note that, based on the slant of the driveway, it is easier to approach the property by turning one street early.
