4/10 Mediocre

At the 3:00 p.m. check-in time, the housekeeper still had the unit locked and had not finished servicing it. I had a tight schedule and was forced to wait in my car until 3:45 p.m. because I was not allowed to move my bags inside, which was very inconvenient. On the first night, I discovered that the bed frame was severely broken, to the point that my feet were nearly a foot higher than my head. Judging by the deep gouges in the hardwood floor, the bed frame had been damaged for quite some time. Since the management company took two days to respond, the only immediate solution was to move the mattress onto the floor. When they finally replied, their solution was not to fix the bed, but to offer to move me to a different unit several miles away.On the third night of my stay, I realized why the couch felt so uncomfortable: one of the legs on the very cheap furniture had broken. I had to stack books I travel with underneath it just to sit on a level surface.During my stay, the unit was also served with an eviction hearing summons for nonpayment to the building owner. When I finally heard back from the VRBO “owner” a day later, I was told to throw the summons away. This management company is not based in Detroit and, upon further investigation, appears to be involved in litigation with the city for unpaid taxes. They do not appear to use guest payments to pay the unit’s lease, but instead pocket the money until eviction is forced.I would not recommend staying in this unit
