The drive down to the water did require 4x4, we had on and off rain, but we didnt pay attention to the fact that there was another, easier route until several days in. We still chose the 4x4 route. "If you are looking for a beautiful, wooded getaway with no other humans, this is it! A comfortable home with everything you need to cook, rest, and enjoy a break from your phone. Easy 1.5 hour drive from Birmingham Alabama. My family had a great time at the "secret beach"! I loved it as an adult, but my 7-year-old was absolutely enamored. I loved waking up to the view of the treetops from the master bedroom looking out on to the private balcony. Going to stay longer next time! "

The cabin was cute and clean..We had no negatives at all.....But some FYIs if you stay....cell service was spotty and at the minimal, no internet (which we enjoyed the break) && be safe and drive a SUV or Truck its a couple miles back on a narrow dirt road that has a few washed out spots and can get muddy if it rains! "It was an average place. Nothing fancy. It is basically what you would think of as a cottage on a lake. Mismatched broken furniture. Dirty mattress on upstairs bunk bed. Didn’t see any bugs but I’m thinking I may have gotten head lice from the pillows. The skillets and stuff had to be scrubbed before we could use them. We did see some sort of water bug that’s to be expected on a lake. The internet is horrible I had to use my hotspot for a firestick on the tv. No one else’s phones would work on...
