Pick elsewhere to stay unless they've updated the property!

This place can be nice but it needs some help. The view was great! However, there were mice running around. I woke up to mice feces on my bananas. They are supposed to provide drinking water because you can't drink the tap water but they left us with a quarter jug for 5 guests. We used all the water on the first day. There's hardly any utensils. There's one pot and no pans, so if you plan on cooking bring your own kitchen supplies. The grill had no propane. The check out instructions state to start a load of laundry if you have time so I did that, and upon taking my pillow case off, I discover I've been sleeping on what appeared to be a urine stain. We were unable to take a shower after our fishing trip because the water was awful.

Disappointment

We didn’t get to stay there. Reservation was canceled by VRBO the night before we left home and there was nothing open within 150 miles of our destination. Very disappointed. Forced to use a different app for accommodations.

Would not recommend

Pros: keyless entry so super easy and flexible. Very roomy and lots of space to roam around. The pool table in the basement is a great bonus. They left bottled water for us to use because the water does smell sulphuric, which we expected. We've been to more secluded places on islands that have smellier water. Now onto the cons. This place is quite dirty, there are dust and dirt in the corners, the windows are so dirty that it's hard to see through to enjoy the view. Cutlery and dishes in the cupboard are very dirty, we had to hand wash everything before using them. The master bedroom is smelly, the pillow covers look fine but if you peek inside, you'll see pillows are stained with numerous old yellow stains!! Some bedding were not washed and were still stained! I tried to open the window and the window screen is FULL of dust, it must not have been vacuumed or dusted in years. Wifi didn't work during our entire stay. I tried contacting the local team and all I got was "thank you for contacting us, we will try to find a solution" someone offered to bring us new bedding on the day we check out, huh?! So I told them not to bother. Also, people with kids may wanna know there's a life size Egyptian status in the living room, some of our kids got scared.

Big House with a Great View

We really felt comfortable in this house and we had plenty of room for the whole family to gather. The view of the ocean was spectacular and it had a nice pool table. This is not a fancy house, but it felt like home to us.

Horrible experience

It was a horrible experience we left the property after one night and went to another airbnb. This property was dirty there was trash on the floor when we got there there was broken furniture the toilet seat was not connected to the toilet. Whe I called to complain and ask for my money back I got disconnected and they never called back we have completed reviews and have not heard back from anyone

Needs thorough cleaning inside and out

Windows are so dirty that they obscure the beautiful view, sinks in kitchen and bathrooms barely drain, handrails have mold all over them, the house inside and out needs painting and cleanup desperately. We won't return here next time.

The house could have been cleaned better but I guess for the price can't re a lly complain.. the mummy was creepy.. it's an ocean house were not vacationing in Egypt. Haha my kids did not like the mummy at all. Overall it was a good score for size and price.. loved the view of the ocean from the kitchen.

Best Long vacation rental experience!

This home is nicely way up a steep road right at Boiler Bay on the OR coast. I'm a flat lander so I feel more safe the higher up I am and the view was amazing as we could watch the tides come in and out. We also could get a good walk in as much as we wanted as it was a 30 min walk to head to the Boiler Bay overlook and back. The well water does smell bad but it wasn't a deal breaker as the management supplied with plenty of bottled water for cooking and drinking! This was a working visit and we needed good fast and strong wifi for us both. The wifi at this home was sufficient and one day it did go down and need reset, as home wifi does as time. They were able to get someone out the next day and resest and it was good the rest of the time! We had an amazing visit and hope to repeat it next year too! This home has it all!

Good value and lots of room

I spent four nights here with four teens. The pool table was a bonus. We are not great at the game though! The water has a funky smell & taste, be sure to bring extra bottled water. The only downside was the kitchen equipment. Cupboards are stocked with random things. Once we figured out where the pans we needed were, we washed them and kept them on the counter for next use. Overall, I give this place 4 stars and would definitely stay here again! Thank you!

Budget get away.

Other guest reviews warn you about the property's water. Well those reviews are very accurate. The water not only stinks its undrinkable and is destroying the faucets and appliances. The dishwasher is dingy and nasty. Plan on bringing in a lot of bottled water. Front concrete steps are dangerous. no railing and very dark at night. Yard needs better lighting. I also noticed that the side door was missing wood around the deadbolt where someone had tried to break in. Spoke to Vacasa and they said it had happened earlier and was going to be repaired. Still a little frighting to come back and find that due to the remote location. Overall we enjoyed our stay (always do at the Oregon coast) The view from house is spectacular. Future guests should remember that it is a little less money for a reason. Overall the house is adequate, view and location is wonderful.

Pre-Thanksgiving Family Trip

My ratings reflect our unfortunate experience upon check in. When we checked in, the property was not cleaned or sanitized. There was a full kitchen garbage, dirty counter tops, 2 of 3 beds were not made/no sheets, urine in the main toilet and dirty bathroom sink. The heater would not turn on. It took 2 calls to the Vacasa Property Management's # to get a local property manager to contact me. We had to leave the property for about 3 hours for them to clean & work on the heater. As a result, we had prepped food to cook upon arrival, but had to leave & then again spend money on a dinner eating out. Because of timing, all establishments in Depoe Bay closed at 8pm, so we sat in our cars (it was heavily raining) while we waited to hear from the property management. Included in our group was our 95 year old grandmother. This was extremely disappointing as we had travelled all day to reach the property to relax & spend quality family time. Finally, at 10:15pm we were called by a Vacasa property manager who told us we could return to the property & she provided an update on the heater, which ended up being incorrect & there must have been a miscommunication of info. When we arrived back to the property, the cleaning staff was still bringing their stuff out of the house, so we had to wait & awkwardly interact with them. (It was awkward considering we unexpectedly brought them out late in the evening to clean) The property was clean upon our second arrival & the heater kicked on shortly after we came in. 2 days later, I spoke with a manager of Vacasa Property Managment. She listened to our experience & complaints. We were provided a reimbursement as a way to make up for the time we missed in the property & for the awful experience upon checking in. The property had a beautiful view. The view can be enjoyed out on the deck, in the kitchen, dining room, & living room. There was sufficient cooking supplies. Fun games & puzzles available for entertainment. Overall, it was a nice property. I am guessing that our check in experience does not happen often. Regardless, it was unacceptable since we booked through VRBO & it was managed by a professional property management company. I was also shocked about the cleanliness due to COVID requirements, maybe VRBO should consider reviewing this property. Prior to checking in, I received multiple communications & had a phone call with the Vacasa to make sure all was ready to go w/ the VRBO for checkin.

It was okay for what it was

For our family of 6, who enjoys coming to the coast to do both Newport and Lincoln City, the location was perfect. However, the house was pretty dirty, to the point where our feet were disgusting after walking for only a short time. The pool table downstairs was covered in tape from rips and such on the felt and really just needed replaced. Also the "high-speed wifi" the listing boasts about, really only works in the living room next to the modem, and was spotty at best even in that room. While the listing does mention the poor smelling water, it does not mention just how AWFUL it smell. We did appreciate the drinking water that was provided. Also the house need to be stocked better with utensils, and cookware that isn't rusty or unusable, and there are no clocks or lamps in any of the rooms, other than 2 small lamps in the living room. All in all, it worked for what we needed it for- a place to sleep. But it is not somewhere I would recommend or book again.

Exceeded Our Expectations!!

This property was amazing! I don't understand the negative reviews. It was spacious, clean, amazing location, comfortable beds and furniture, had everything we needed. And the view was to die for! My husband and kids had a great time playing pool in the basement, and it was actually a relief that it was a bit torn up and outdated - that just meant I didn't have to worry about them damaging anything. Yes, the tap water smells like sulfur, but that was such a minor inconvenience. Especially since it was clearly stated in the listing and we knew to expect it. I was a bit worried about showering in it at first, but you only notice the smell for the first minute or so, and then its gone. Also, I only showered in the master bathroom so I can't speak for the other showers, but the master shower was great! So much better than the majority of other showers away from home. The water pressure was wonderful and I actually ended up not wanting to get out!

Only one working shower, the pool table is taped! No tips on the pool sticks. And the recliner is broke. Not worth the money

The biggest issue with the property is the awful brackish sulfuric tap water, aside from that it is a dated property that needs some TLC. Upstairs beds fine but basement should not be used or counted as bedroom, dank and uncomfortable

We had an amazing stay here. The house is big and has all you need. The kitchen was big, but needs new and sharper knives. The view was amazing. We saw whales the first night, and the next. I will stay here again!

The location was wonderful, but the house was dirty. There was a sign at the door to remove our shoes, but the floor was so gritty that we had to sweep the whole house ourselves when we first arrived. We found tea bags and pieces of popcorn on the floor. The counters were dirty too. The water smelled terribly of sulfar. The cleaning gal showed up early the day we were due to check out and put pressure on us to leave before our checkout time. Loved the house, but the cleaning was super.

Great house

Great house. Water was smelly as they mention, but they provided drinking water so it wasn’t an issue for us. We appreciated the few laundry room steps so the senior dog could get in and out. Very quiet neighborhood right around the corner from Depoe Bay. Perfect retreat!

Beautiful views, great location, lots of room!

We loved the view and all of the room. The upstairs is really nice. The downstairs has a pool table with felt that has some tears, but it was still a lot of fun. There were a few things that could have been better. Some of the silverware is rusty. The coffee grinder doesn't work. Overall, though, we were very comfortable and LOVED the location.

They need a new cleaning staff

It is a beautiful property, so quiet and an amazing view, we loved the size of the home and having a garage to use. It is so close to both Lincoln City and down town Depoe that we didn't have any trouble finding things to do. Not to mention they are a 2 minute drive from a giant park and beach access. Management was great to work with and this property is great for Dogs, we brought two large boys with us and they had a great time, they loved that the windows were so big that they could watch everything. Everyone complains of the smell, we didn't have a smell inside the house just when you were doing dishes or running the shower but they do mention that it is using a sulfur well and they provided a TON of water for drinking and cooking, it didn't last long and we didn't notice it once we were dry, it wasn't an issue for us. The only downside we ran into was just about all of the dishes we used were covered in food and felt greasy, the table hadn't been wiped down in a few stays, and the sheets on the master bed hadn't been changed and there were stains on the bedding. Other than that the house was amazing to stay at and we would love to come back for another visit!
