Oceanfront Bluff Home - Whale Watching, Redwoods, Wood Stove & Pet Friendly

  • Welcome to Sunset Sanctuary — a coastal retreat designed to calm the mind and recharge the spirit. Perched above the Pacific on the Crescent City bluffs, this is a place where the ocean is never out of sight or earshot.

    Light a fire in the wood stove, pour something warm, and watch the sun melt into the sea from the deck. Gray Whales migrate past seasonally, and Pilot Whales cruise these waters year-round — keep your eyes on the horizon.

    Beach access is just a block away, where a short walk leads down to Preston Island — a dramatic rocky shoreline with sandy stretches perfect for a stroll with your pet (who we’re always happy to welcome). For swimming and surfing, Crescent Beach is a easy 5-minute drive.

    The old-growth redwoods of Jedediah Smith are 30 minutes inland. The harbor, restaurants, coffee, and everything else you’ll need are within 10 minutes. And when the day is done, the wood stove, the sound of the waves, and a sky full of stars will be waiting for you.

    One more thing — you’ll notice a vintage Airstream parked on the property. She’s stationary and being lovingly restored as an optional guest add-on launching Autumn 2026. Something special is coming.

This is a beautiful property! The views are absolutely stunning, and the house has everything you could possibly need. The location is very convenient to beaches and the redwoods, and Shawn is extremely helpful with tips about the area. Definitely visit Enderts Beach for tide pooling. That was a highlight of our trip!

Sunset Cottage is a beautiful place. it is well supplied, clean with a magnificent view of the ocean! We loved the sun filled rooms and having use of the record player.We were able to access three state and national parks for khiking.

Amazing ocean view, cute vintage cabin, everything was clean (if older, which matched the vintage beach house aesthetic very nicely). The porch had unparalleled sunset ocean views and the location was great for both beach access and getting to explore the redwoods

The pictures don't do this place justice. The oceanfront setting is stunning — you're right on the bluff, and we could watch the waves without leaving the house. The home itself has a warm, character-filled vibe that's hard to find in rentals anymore. The record player was an unexpected highlight; putting on an album and watching the sunset set the whole tone for our stay. Everything was clean, comfortable, and exactly as advertised — just better. Great location too, with Pebble Beach a minute away and the redwoods close by. We'd absolutely stay again and are going tell all of our friends.

We absolutely loved this gem of a home! It was super clean, well stocked with anything and everything we needed, Shawn was very responsive and helpful. And THE VIEWS! Mornings and sunsets on the back porch were my favorite part. Easy access to all the beauty of the Redwoods. We didn’t want to leave and would love to come back someday.

Great location right on the beach. The sound of the waves lulls you to sleep at night. Nicely furnished and provides everything needed. We wished we could have stayed more than one night to enjoy everything this house has to offer.

Beautiful house in a great location right on the beach! Perfect for our friends getaway. The deck space is amazing and the glass walls keep the area warm and protected from the wind. Short walk down to beach, perfect sunset views, an all around great place to stay.

This house and location are wonderful. I could have sat on the patio and looked at the ocean the entire trip. It’s very dog friendly. Communication with the host was great. The master bedroom is on the main level so that was great for us. I really hope to go back.

Wonderful Place

We loved our stay here! Shawn thought of everything one would need to have a home away from home. We loved the view and all the wonderful music, books, and games. Views are incredible and we hope to stay again!
