While the unit was clean, well located and relatively free of any issues, the overreaching management component associated with this property is enough for us to stay away in the future. The moment our payment cleared, I received 6 emails within the next two hours from this group as well as an unsolicited text message regarding anything from signing the multi-page rental agreement to promoting their online access portal. Subsequent emails came after the day of our trip arrived and we still had no idea how to access our unit. In spite of the use of a key-coded lock and us going straight to our unit when we arrived, the management company insisted on seeing my driver's license in order to gain access to the unit we had already paid for. They suggested I email an image to them (nope) or text an image of my driver's license (nope). As a result I was forced to personally visit their office when we arrived to prove that I was the guy I said I was.
We've utilized VRBO's portal for lodging options from Florida to Colorado and as far away as Hawaii. We've never had to endure the hassle of utilizing VRBO anywhere until now. When I had a little face time with the management group representative I was told the owners insisted on this process. I asked if was just this owner. No, it's all of them. I can't even get consensus from four businessmen about where to have lunch during the weekday but somehow this bunch is able to get over 100 owners to agree on this crazy protocol without question. I have my doubts above the veracity of the rep's statement.
We've learned our lesson now and will pursue other options in the future if our plans call for another trip to Port Aransas. No qualms with VRBO in this instance but your organization should be aware of what's going on here. The "O" portion of your handle is being compromised. We had no direct dealings with the owner whatsoever. Thanks.
