Over and above

Our stay was over and above all expectations! The house gave off positive energy and the surroundings are breathtaking. It was spacious and cozy. We especially loved that all of us were able to gather for cooking and sharing meals around the big table with plenty of seating space. From the sunrise to greet you, the majestic horses, the beautiful ocean with dolphins swimming by and the amazing sunsets to end the day. We all had the time of our lives and can’t wait to enjoy another fabulous vacation at this home.

Perfect home for family time

Great home for a family vacation. Plenty of room for activities together while allowing space when wanted. Beautiful views of both sunrises out front and sunsets out the back. Very quiet area. Lots of opportunities to view the wild horses.

Great Memories

This is the second stay at this house for our group. We enjoyed the stay just as much the second time. The house had everything we needed, no one had any complaints. Many laughs and lots of sun. great rental and great communication with Tracy.

Memorable stay at the beach

Our stay here will be fondly remembered by our family. Plenty of room (and personal space) for everyone. The house is inviting and beautiful and the kitchen spacious enough for a lot of cooks! The kids loved the pool and the adults gravitated to the hot tub. All in all, it was a wonderful stay that went by too fast.

Amazing Location

Amazing house, great location! This house was perfect for our family vacation. The wild horses strolled by a few times and the owner was great on giving helpful tips on where to find the horses. Highly suggest this house if you want to have a once in a lifetime experience in the Outer Banks!

Christmas at OBX

Great house for a multiple family stay! 2 dishwashers & 2 refrigerators. Wild horses literally walked through the yard. Convenient beach access, ocean views from the house, quiet neighborhood.

Wonderful Home!

We had an amazing time at the property. It’s well appointed wonderfully set up and has all amenities you could want. The horses drifted in and out of the property all week. It’s an amazing place to have a vacation.

Secluded beach time with wild horses.

Great view with plenty of bedroom space. Horses came by each day. I walked to the beach one day and we parked on the beach. 4 wheel drive is not a suggestion, its a must. We have a dually and didnt get stuck. But iI think a jeep would be a blast. We totally disconnected as we brought everything we'd need with no intention of leaving until our departure date. Without rushing to restaurants and other destinations, it was total down time. Just what we needed. Im only sorry that we never got the chance to try out the theater room. We were too whipped by the end of the day, when we got back from the beach. We did see dolphins. There is several stairs but there has to be for those bird eye views. We're a 60+ group with one 52 yr old "youngster" lol. But we managed fine. Anyhow, its an experience that im glad we were fortunate enough to have. Sorry for any typos, this app isnt letting me see what I type. Also, great communication from the owneer. Nice house, nice time!! A++

Large group getaway

Large group of four families with 5 teens and two pre teens, enjoyed the house and the location. House had everything and more, theater room was a great addition, we enjoyed it when the weather didn’t cooperate. Tracy phoned me personally ahead of time to check in and answer any question I had, which was very nice.

Peaceful, beautiful, dream come true experience

There really isnt a combination of words that could truly explain how magical our experience was during our stay at Crystal Cove. From the very first glimpse I saw of the property, to booking, to arriving, and everything in between, exceeded my expectations. EVERYTHING about it was perfect for our family but my favorite part about it all, was the blessing of being able to bring our dogs along too. We always miss our furry friends when we go on vacation so we decided that this year, we would tag them along. The host generously accomodated all of our pet needs and offered us an unforgetttable experience by allowing them to partake in the journey. The dogs probably had more fun than we did. They enjoyed watching the horses out the window every day, they LOVED swimming in the ocean and playing frisbee in the sand and having so much space to themselves on the beach. We did not have to hold back or turn down the fun and joy while at the beach so that we didnt disturb other families because we litterally felt like we had the entire beach to ourselves! We spent hours down there every day of our stay and not once did we experience a crowd of people. We loved the simplicity of making dinner together with our daughter, washing the dishes together, playing games after dinner, stuffing our faces with ice cream and candy at the home cinama, and relaxing in the hot tub. Truly feeling like one unit as a family was the best and we cant wait to do it again next year!!

Carova 2024

We have been to Carova several time and love the 4x4 area. We saw horses everyday on both the beach and the house. House was clean and had plenty of space for the whole family. Bonus was that we also got to see sea turtle hatch on the beach, best part of the trip.

Amazing experience

Overall we had a great trip! The house was beautiful and so close to the beach. The drive in gave us some trouble but driving in the beach was an awesome experience. It was worth it to be on a semi private beach not open to everyone. We would definitely come back to this location. You need to make sure you air down your tires at least to half way to be able to drive and we didn’t know that at first. But other than that it was beautiful.

Crystal Cove Aug. 2024

My family and I just spent a week @ Crystal Cove. We've been to OBX several times but this was our first stay on a 4x4 beach. If you are considering this area for your next vacation, I can not recommend this house enough. Our large family had plenty of room. We ranged in age from 2 to 65 and this house fit all our needs easily. The views are beautiful and the area is quiet and FULL of horses. Every morning for 6 days I had coffee with the same 5 horses. Booking this house and staying in this area is more than a vacation its an entirely new experience. Book this house, bring your family, and enjoy the most relaxing, unique experience ever. I hope to make it back there again soon!

Extended family vacations

Tracy was an excellent host. He was very gracious in providing instructions on the property and the surrounding area. This location felt magical, with wild horses walking around the home and dolphins playing near the beach. My family had a wonderful time and found the neighbors very friendly. I would definitely recommend it!

We had a wonderful stay. Very clean, the kitchen was organized. We liked the tips from Tracy regarding driving on the beach. The pool and hot tub was nice especially when we couldn’t swim in the ocean. We saw horses right in the yard! I can’t think of one negative thing. It was a wonderful home for our family gathering. 4th of July vacation

I’m writing this review in response to the owners response to the situation that occurred while staying at this house last week. We’ve been to OBX numerous times before, but never to the 4x4 area and this time that’s where we went. The house is nice and close to the beach. We arrived on Saturday late, and as a family we like to enjoy the pool and on Sunday we did. However Sunday evening a storm came through and must have knocked the power out to the pool. We were gone Monday due to rain we went to town. Enjoyed the pool on Tuesday and on Wednesday we noticed the pool getting cloudy and notified the owners on Wednesday morning of the situation. The storm on Sunday night must of killed the system as the pool wasn’t operating. We were told they would contact the company who handles the pool, but no one came out to check on the pool on Wednesday at all. I contacted the owners again on Thursday and was told the same thing they’ll be out to fix it, no one came on Thursday either. We’re now onto Friday and still no pool and it’s now cloudier and green. It’s been 4 days of 90 degree weather and the pool looks bad. While this is going on, the ocean water temp is 75 degrees and too cold to swim in and we have no pool to get away from the heat. The pool still wasn’t fixed when we left on Saturday and the compensation offered to us for this incident was very disappointing.

Family Vacation

This was a full family vacation of 16 people, this home had accommodations for everyone. We had lots of space for all of us, everyone loved the pool, seeing the wild horses, beach close by. Very enjoyable stay.
