Horseplay Stay

The house met all of our expectations and more. Horses under our balcony, dolphins jumping and the roaring of the ocean - couldn't get any better. Great days on the beach and having the pool/hot tub was a bonus as well. There was plenty of room for all 11 of us to be together, as well as places for everyone to have alone time. Great vacation!

OBX family celebration

The house has enough rooms for our family of 12. The view was gorgeous and loved having my morning coffee and looking out over the ocean. We loved seeing the wild horses in the backyard and on rhe beach. We loved the private pool and spa. I’m not sure if the sheets were changed in the room with the 4 beds as there were crumbs on the sheets when the kids went to bed our first night. Other than that the house was pretty clean.

Family Vacation

The stay was great. The house was clean and well maintained. We had horses in our backyard and walking under the porches on the house, which was AMAZING to see! Absolutely beautiful area. We would stay again. My only complaint is the pool was advertised as being heated when I booked it but was not an option after booking.

Wonderful Week!

My family and I love the Outer Banks and have always stayed in Duck. This year, we decided to try something different and stay in Carova. We had absolutely amazing weather! Driving on the beach was definitely a bit intimidating but we paid attention to the tides and had minimal problems getting in and out. (Got stuck once in a Chevy Traverse, but luckily we had a big truck with our group to pull us out!) The ‘roads’ once you turn over the dune were very loose, but I think the dry weather contributed to that. The house was an absolutely perfect fit for our family. Clean, plenty of space, and lots of bathrooms! The views from all sides of the home were breathtaking, and we were fortunate enough to see horses a few times throughout the week very near the property. The pool was very clean and an awesome space. The speakers were a huge plus- super easy to run Bluetooth to stream music from a phone. The kitchen was well equipped, which was great since we opted to cook most meals at the house. The extra living spaces were perfect for when the guys wanted to watch football. On our first few days, we took a very long trek to the beach, not knowing the best way. We spoke with a local who guided us through the back ‘yard’ and over the dune, which was much more efficient, but definitely not the best for young kids. We brought a beach wagon but were unable to use it since it wouldn’t have made it up and over the steep/lumpy/bumpy dune. FYI- once it gets dark, there were a lot of mosquitoes outside. We got bit up by the hot tub… leave the doors closed so they don’t get inside!! We were loading up our car the last evening and unfortunately a bunch of mosquitoes got in the basement. We had an amazing time and would recommend staying in this home, as long as you have reliable 4 wheel drive!

The Best Location

We have now stayed in Corova twice and this location was just the right distance based on the time it takes to get back to the main road. The house was clean with multiple unobstructed views of the ocean. The bedroom set-up was perfect for our family and the two dishwashers were definitely a plus. We will be staying here again.

Great Family Vacation

Great property. We had six adults and three children. Plenty of room. Nice selection of puzzles and books. Main room electronics were up to date. The pool was refreshing and the hot tub was relaxing.

Horses outside every day

Great place, constant horses and the beach is right there, nicely kept up and great screened in porch off the top floor spent part of the time working remote from and Internet worked fine for zoom. Nice open feeling inside and great kitchen, would just stay and live there if I could…

Great 3 week get away

We had an amazing time at Horseplay. It was the get away we needed this year. Wonderful to be on the beach everyday and have the wild horses visit. Laura was great... super responsive in adressing any questions. Can’t want to go back!

Great house and location (bring ALL supplies during covid)

We had a wonderful weeklong stay this August. We were here during covid and the potential hurricane. The house was clean and spacious and the pool and hot tub was perfect for us and our two children. The beach is just over the dune and there are views of the water (from the second row of houses) and sunsets to the west. Laura was responsive to my inquiries. During this time of covid it is important to note that EVERYTHING should be brought for the kitchen/house. Here is a list: Toilet Paper Paper Towels Dishwasher soap Sponge Dish soap Salt/pepper oil sugar saran wrap and tinfoil bbq charcoal etc. anything you might use for cooking and eating, you should bring. Also, there is one small spatula, so some cooking utensils are also important if you plan to cook.

Our stay was great. The only negatives were no bathmats or door mats inside the residence. The second was there were water heater issues which were handled as fast as possible which we appreciated very much.

Awesome vacation spot

The house was tremendous and well appointed. only real issue was the pool area had quite a bit of broken furniture that we removed and needed some serious weeding. Otherwise was an awesome location and great house. we will definitely return to "Horseplay"

Not worth the money

The house layout was great, but I would not rent again. Appliances are worn out and some weren’t working. The floors were covered in dog hair. The mornings on the 3rd level deck were spent swatting at wasps that were living in the eaves. The walk to the beach is 400 ft of uphills and over dunes. On a positive note, the property manager was very responsive and friendly and got the internet and dish tv working again for us pretty quickly after a storm came through and knocked them both out. The location is ok, if you like driving up the beach. I found it inconvenient and have decided I like a house on the beach road better.

Great house! Awesome location!

My family and I would definitely stay here again! Love the location and views. We ran into a water problem, and the property manager responded and got the problem fixed ASAP! Couldn’t ask for better help or a cleaner house!
