My family and I stayed here for a week. We were excited about the fact prices were lower due to it being the first week of "off season". Hurricane Ian did mess up the weather the first few days, but we were able to make the best of it with shopping, eating, and just being lazy. My problems are with the house.
1. There was a massive storm the night before and it leaked into the master bedroom. We weren't warned at all. We got in and our floors were sopping, wet soaked. They had fans on, but it was SOAKED. I put in a work order because this floor needed the water sucked out, not just dryed. Clearly they knew this happened and decided fans were enough. The room smelled like mold and mildew the entire stay. The bedrooms on the second floor had some water inside too but not bad. No fans on them.
2. Beds. We have done several of these beach houses in OBX and Florida and I have never slept on such terrible beds. None of them were great. They remind me of the old spring mattress you get handed down from someone. I truly have never felt a worse bed.
3. No linens. They wanted $35 per guest for two towels, face cloth, and bed sheets. WHO DOES THIS? I know it was in the description, so we brought our own but this seems cheap.
4. The Pool. The "pool toys" were used, deflated blow up floats. The pool itself was ice cold. Come to find out, it's ice cold because it has a leak and they come refill the pool every other day. ???
5. House and it's ambiance. It was clean but not hotel clean. It didn't have that "clean" smell. The colors are muted and don't make the house feel like a vacation. I'm not a decorater, but there are normally themes in these homes and this one definitely said, "we are doing the bare minimal and cheapest route for guests".
6. Items left for the house users. There are no tools for you to clean up!? No broom, no dust pan, a beat up vacuum (that says it's from a different house) but nothing. We bought dish soap, dishwasher tablets, paper towels, trash bags, hand soaps, toilet paper (it is BARELY one ply) and more hand towels for cleaning up. How are we suppose to leave the home clean with no tools?
7. It is not nearly as close to the beach as they want you to assume. We rented a golf cart and that helped. But it 100% isn't ideal for walking.
8. Deck had nails sticking up.
The good.
1. Hot tub. Standard but nice.
2. Space in house, wonderful.
3. Kitchen was fully stocked with all cooking utensils.
4. Games and internet all great
