After driving around for an hour someone finally returned our call & messages and arranged to meet us. We had almost given up & were going to go home. "I keep telling myself it’s cheap and cheerful, and it is to some degree.. but it has a 4* sign as you drive in, and this just isn’t the case. Rooms are run down and have needed upgrading for years. The swimming pool has been “ under maintenance” on the 3 occasions I have stayed over the years, so I just question whether it is ever open. The carpets needed hoovering in the hallways and our room. "Firstly how helpful and friendly the staff were everyone there made me feel really welcome and it felt like a happy environment. On the second day I got to use the spa etc and that was just magic especially as I’d walked round half of Nottingham during such a hot day. Having the bar & the restaurant on the top floor is a bit odd, but it is comfortable. The food in the restaurant was very poor as was the quality of the wine.
