BUG INFESTATION (INCL THE BED) AND NO RUNNING WATER
We booked a suite, by far the most expensive accommodation in the area, and could not have anticipated that we would spend the first night in a room filled with bugs, 2 of the 3 days without any running water and no hot water for the entire stay.
We advised the hotel of the bugs in the room. They claimed that they fumigated every day (a concern in itself- why is fumigation necessary every day if the hotel is kept clean?), and that they would move us to a clean/new room immediately. When we returned late at night we found our bags unmoved, still in the original contaminated room! They then moved us next door after repeated requests.
We also advised reception that there was no water, in the shower, toilet or sink, and they said they would ensure it was fixed. The next morning there was still no running water. On the last morning a very light shower was able to be had, but with cold water; hot water was not available at any time throughout our stay.
We advised the hotel of our concerns throughout our stay, but there was no rectification beyond moving rooms after the first night. We requested a refund for a stay that was not at the standard expected from the advertised room. They advised that they would not be offering any refund and best they could do is offer us a free lunch! Unbelievable.
When I wrote to the hotel after the stay they again declined refund other than a discounted future stay. We will not be going back!
