Title: Major issues from arrival through departure – very disappointing stay Review:We rented this VRBO on Caye Caulker from March 13-23. Our arrival was chaotic: the caretaker Desmond ghosted us at the San Pedro ferry dock despite promising to pick us up by boat. We had to arrange our own taxis and golf cart. Upon reaching the house we discovered no running water, raw sewage backup in the downstairs bathroom, a worker occupying one bedroom (uncomfortable with teens in our group), leaking improperly installed A/C units, and multiple unusable rooms.Issues persisted the entire 11 days: repeated plumbing backups (including into the sink), very spotty hot water (none in some rooms), electrical outage on day 6, non-functional locks and doors with zero security, rats, roaches and ants, broken bikes/equipment that kept getting stolen, and no clean linens or towels provided once. We repaired a toilet, fixed bikes, cleaned the laundry room, and washed our own linens. We left the place better than we found it.Desmond was fired on day 5 and replaced by Shane and Larry, who were helpful and dedicated. The property has a lot of potential, but it desperately needs a boatload of TLC and better management.We had some fun despite the constant problems, but this was far from the relaxing island getaway we booked. We would not recommend this property or host in its current state.
