Early July Stay

The house is in a beautiful area of the Dordogne which we have explored many timed before. The location of the house is perfect with easy access to many of the top sights in the area but offering peace and privacy. Ewen was the perfect host, being on hand if we needed him, but also allowing us time to spend together as a family uninterrupted. The kids particularly enjoyed the pool and the many outside games that were available throughout our stay. We'll definitely consider returning. Many thanks

Fantastic stay

Le Hibou Horeaux is a beautiful and well maintained property. The garden is large, beautiful, and private. The outdoor dining, pool, and grill area were perfect for us. The home is thoughtfully designed and very comfortable in the details (e.g. screens on the windows). Location is fantastic, we enjoyed biking, hiking, canoeing, and the many restaurants and small towns in the area.

A wonderful week in the Dordogne

We had a wonderful week at Le Hibou Heureux. The house and garden had everything we needed to make our stay easy and enjoyable. Ewen was a a great host, nothing was too much trouble. The location is beautiful and peaceful, we will definitely visit again.

Ein schöner Sommer-Familienurlaub

Wir hatten eine schöne Zeit. Die Nähe des Hauses zur Dordogne und vielen Sehenswürdigkeiten war super. Auch das Kühlsystem des Hauses hat uns gut gefallen (keine Klimaanlage im herkömmlichen Sinne und doch war das Haus bei sehr hohen Außentemperaturen angenehm kühl). Abends haben wir den Tag gerne auf der Terrasse ausklingen lassen.

Enjoyable Property for multi-generation Family Vacation

We spent 5 nights at the Hibou Heureux. Ewen, our host, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and help improve our stay. He surprised us with croissants our first morning at the house, offered a bottle of wine, and even secured a table for us at the Marché Nocturne on Bastille Day (to which he rigged a parasol for some much needed shade)! The house is a great starting point for visiting the nearby touristic sites, but still offers privacy at the end of quiet street surrounded by nature. There is a sizable garden and a beautiful pool (toys/floats included). We enjoyed several outdoor meals on the attached terrace. The house has plenty of storage in each room for personal items and luggage. The amenities are all updated. We enjoyed every minute in a home that you can tell is well cared for by its owner. Many thanks to Ewen; we highly recommend Le Hibou Heureux and would definitely return.

Pristine Estate

There are a lot of pros with justified the price for the stay. The property is in a quiet and natural environment. The house is fully equipped with all you may or may not need to do your daily housekeeping chores. We faced a heat wave from Spain during our stay which boosted the temperatures close to 40°C. The cooling of the house, an inverse heat pump, did an excellent job to keep the inside temperature to 24°C max. For sure the discipline to keep the doors and windows closed is a prerequisite. For the rare opportunity for improvements, I would recommend a pool robot that clears the bottom of the pool from leaves and other stuff automatically

Happy holidays at the happy owl!

We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay here at this wonderful villa which is perfectly located within a short distance of some very beautiful towns and the river. We stayed for 6 nights and filled our time with boat trips, castle and chateau visits, enjoying the local markets and food tasting and of course relaxing at the villa in the sunshine enjoying the lovely grounds and swimming pool. Ewen the owner ensured we had everything we needed and was a wonderful host. We will most definitely be returning in the not too distant future.

Beautiful home and Perfect Location!

Le Hibou Heureux, The Happy Owl, was just that- a very happy time for our family of 8 (6 adults and 2 children). The home is lovely, the grounds fabulous, and Ewen, the owner, was most helpful from the initial booking to the end of our stay. The location was so perfect for so much to do for all ages. We had a fabulous time and can’t recommend this property and location highly enough! We had a wonderful time!!

Excellent Holiday Home

This is a beautiful villa in a quiet location adjacent to St Cyprien and Beynac with extensive manicured gardens and perfectly maintained swimming pool. The property is furnished to a very high standard and the kitchen is extremely well equipped for a holiday home Communications are very good with Wifi being effective in all areas and the TV having a comprehensive selection of channels. The owner Ewen was very helpful to us during our enjoyable stay.

Stunning villa with beautiful grounds

We loved our stay, this is a real beauty spot, the house we felt was spacious and very nicely and warm decorated, unlike other villas we had before in France which can be a little cold and lacking atmosphere. As a true bonus the grounds are very big and completely fenced, which is helpful if you have a dog which loves to roam around. Finally, Ewen is unlike any other landlord, trying his upmost to make your holiday a bliss without being too intrusive. Thank you.

Ideal Vacation Home in the Dordogne

Le Hibou Herbeux (The Happy Owl) was a perfect vacation home for our family of six, four adults and two children. It is immaculately clean, generously sized and well-furnished and equipped in every way. Even though the weather was warm, the house was cool inside, and outside, the swimming pool was perfect for afternoon swims after touring local attractions. Located in the heart of the Dordogne, the house is just a few driving minutes away from castles, caves and charming towns with markets and restaurants. The house is at the end of a village road and is very private and very quiet. The main sounds outside were bird songs and bees (harmless) buzzing in the beautifully landscaped garden. The owner was very helpful and friendly. We hope to return some day, and we would definitely stay at The Happy Owl again.

Beautiful, relaxing home - so lucky to have stayed there. If I could rate more stars, I would !

Beautiful, well appointed home with everything you need for a stay. Very updated, well taken care of and high quality home. The area (Bezenac/St Cyprien) is perfect to serve as a home base in this southwest (ish) region in France. Plenty of activities and quaint, relaxing towns to visit in this area - it is a perfect area to relax and experience. Whether its castles to explore or wine chateaus to tour/visit, or canoeing the Dordogne, or visiting many great small villages and towns or attending the festivals in the local towns - this is a wonderful area to home base from and a perfect house to relax in. It was easy to find, the owner Ewen, couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful - anything you need he is there to help you. He is a great host ! My 2 teenage boys had a great visit too - there was plenty of room and plenty of space for them to run around as well. We are all looking forward to returning soon.

Beauiful House, garden and pool

There is nothing to find fault with at Hibou Heureux. I have stayed in many houses over the years and this is one of the best. Very well equipped with all that you would expect to have in your own home. For families there is a lovely garden and open space to play in, the pool is a delight and its location ensures it gets heated naturally. Beds are very comfortable, excellent bathrooms and showers. Great BBQ area and covered outside eating area. We spent most of our evenings sitting out, eating, drinking and waiting for the hooting owls to start calling (hence the house name). Ewan (the owner) is a lovely man and is readily on hand if there are any problems. We only had one minor problem with the internet (which my daughter needed for an Skype interview) and Ewan went our of his way to find a solution for us (thank you again, Ewan!). He likes to keep the garden looking nice so do let him know if you are going to be out and that way it will stay nice!. He also makes sure the pool stays nice and clean.The house is close to St Cyprien which has a good supermarket so you do not need to go far for your essentials, it also has great market on Sundays. In conclusion we had a wonderful time and would not hesitate in recommending this others.

Tres belle demeure ,charme et tranquilite

Aceuil tres chaleureux du proprietaire.. Premiere decouverte : le jardin magnifiquement entretenu et la piscine,parfait pour se rafraichir en periodes ensoleillees . Nous avons auussi beaucoup apprecie l, autre terrasse avec son barbecue et la table a l'ombre du grand chene. L interieur de la maison est a l 'image d l'exterieur: parfait Une grande piece a vivre avec cuisine ouverte tres bien equipee,grande cheminee ,en cas de fraicheur,,un escalier nous entraine dans la mezzanine,qui fait office de chambre. Les 3 autres chambres sont super et tres confortables car chacune equipee de salle de bain ou salle d,eau Vraiment cette demeure est a conseiller vivement car c'est vraiment l:endroit ideal pour se reposer apres une journee decouverte,a pieds ..velos ..canoe...,de cette belle region
