We spent a wonderful week at La Bourgarde and couldn’t have asked for a better stay. The property was perfect – just a short walk into Castelnaud for morning pastries and close enough to enjoy an afternoon swim. The location made it easy to pack in so many activities, and our whole family loved every moment. Check-in was seamless, and the host was excellent with communication and helpful advice throughout our stay. We will definitely be returning – highly recommended!

Lovely House with Fabulous Views

Lovely house with everything that you need. Position makes it have fabulous views. The pool was great, heated, clean and good sunbeds. Walk to the castle through the bottom of the garden. A couple of restaurants in the village plus a patisserie. Short ride to La Roque-Gageac with lots of restaurants and a little further to Sarlat-la-Canéda which is great. Would recommend this house and hope to return.

Mooi huis, prachtige omgeving !

Leuke week gehad in Castelnaud. De eigenaar is erg vriendelijk en stuurde ons nog wat informatie over ridder/tempelier Hugues de Payns, die een plekje heeft in de tuin. Mooi huis, met een heerlijk verwarmd zwembad, met uitzicht op het kasteel en op de beboste vallei. Voor rustzoekers ideaal: naast af en toe de kerkklok ( van het mooie oude kerkje dichtbij) hoor je alleen het gezang van heel veel vogels: indrukwekkend en rustgevend tegelijk. Vanaf het huis is het maar een korte wandeling naar het kasteel, dat de moeite waard is om te bezichtigen. Prachtig uitzicht ook vanaf daar. In de omgeving is veel te doen (boottocht of kanoën op de rivier of een ballonvaart), of een bezoekje aan mooie dorpjes zoals Beynac, la Roque Gaegac en Domme. Te veel om te zien in 1 week. We moeten daarom nog een keer terugkomen ;-) De Dordogne is prachtig!

Lovely location

My family and I enjoyed our two weeks here. The property was clean, had everything you need and has a great pool and outdoor area. The location and house are both excellent, but you need to be relatively fit and agile as the property has steep stairs and the walk to the village (up and down) are steep. The amount of mosquitoes tarnished our stay, but we were advised that this year was unusual. There was no book recommending things to do which was a shame and having to pay for towels and bedding was excessive given the cost of the rental. It would have been good to have satelite TV (for us foreigners!) and table tennis/boule would have been excellent, as there's plenty of space outdoors. However, overall, the property is great and we had a good time.

Einzigartiges Haus

Die Lage und die Abgeschiedenheit dieses Häuschens sind etwas Besonderes, man fühlt sich wie ein Schloß-Besitzer auf Zeit. Wunderschöne Ausblicke von der überdachten Terrasse auf Burg, Kirche und Tal, häufig kommen die örtlichen Heißluftballons vorbei geschwebt. Je nach Jahreszeit können hier alle Mahlzeiten eingenommen werden. Sehr gut ausgestattete Küche mit umfangreichen Utensilien, es fehlte nichts Wichtiges. Nicht geeignet für körperlich eingeschränkte Gäste: die Stiegen im Haus sind steil und nicht zu umgehen, da Küche/Essbereich/Terrasse in der mittleren Etage und Schlafzimmer/Bäder in unterer bzw. oberer Etage liegen. Schöner Pool, jedoch ohne Einstiegshilfe/Geländer an der Treppe. Dort befindet sich ein weiterer, überdachter Sitzbereich. Einkaufen und im Restaurant (Abend-) Essen war im Juni nur im unteren Dorfteil möglich, der obere Teil ist nur zur Öffnungszeit der Burg belebt bzw. bewirtschaftet gewesen. Dorthin und auch nach unten führen steile, oft steinige Fußwege. Unser Fazit: wer es ruhig und romantisch mag, wird dieses Haus lieben.

Idyllic Stay at Castelnaud

It was absolutely wonderful. Beautiful, well appointed house in a gorgeous location with a great swimming pool. We've been to the Dordogne many times before, all brilliant - but this was the best yet. Amazing maison in Perigord

This was our second stay at La Bourgarde and again it did not disappoint. Check in was smooth, with Emilie showing us about and sorting out bedding, meter readings and cleaning wishes for check out. It’s a great set up on three floors, with a bedroom and bathroom downstairs, open plan living area on the first floor and 2 bedrooms and shower room upstairs. Aircon was a welcome relief overnight during the canicule, and the wifi was fast. The pool area is well situated and has shaded seating, with a BBQ just along. The area itself is great for castles, caves and other amusements. Well worth it, and we can’t wait to return.

Lovely house in fabulous setting

We had a great holiday at La Bourgarde, a lovely restored property with the benefit of a large garden, heated swimming pool and ample parking, just a short walk up to the castle and restaurants or down to the superb local boulangerie. Fantastic views from the terrace, which is also great for outdoor eating. And a perfect base for visiting the main sites of the Dordogne. We hope to return soon!

Beautiful 'La Bourgarde'

After waiting for almost 2 years to enjoy our holiday with friends in 'La Bourgarde', we were not disappointed. Everything was as hoped for and more. Communication with the property owner Christian, and daughter Marjory about our delayed holiday due to Covid, was very reassuring & perfect. The property was just as described, everything we could possibly need was there, and more. The kitchen was very well equipped, the bedrooms spacious & beds comfortable. We ate outside on the terrace with glorious views across the valley, perfect for watching the hot air balloon flights morning & evening. BBQ meals under the arbour near the fabulous pool, enjoying privacy and peace and quiet. We enjoyed dining out at the various restaurants in & around this beautiful village, especially 'Le Tournepique'. And my husband exercised daily to get us croissant & baguette from the local boulangerie. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at 'La Bourgarde' and will hopefully return one day. Many thanks to Emilie also, punctual for check-in & check-out. Everything could not have gone better for a relaxing & carefree time in France.

Nous avons passé un très agréable séjour dans cette belle maison au pied du château de Castelnaud. Vue à magnifique depuis la terrasse, équipement de la maison sans reproche conforme au descriptif, tout y est. Cerise sur la gâteau, la piscine privée chauffée pour se détendre après une journée de ballade. Je recommande vivement.

15 jours de rêve !!!

Belle Maison très bien équipée (rien ne manque)et idéalement située au pied du château de Castelnaud. La piscine et sa pergola... agréable endroit qui permet de se détendre après une randonnée vers Bénac, la Roque Gageac, St Julien ou encore Les Milandes .
