We loved this little cottage! It was one of the nicest, coziest and Cleanest places we have ever stayed. Furniture was comfortable and showers both had rainshower heads. Location was great! The very cool park was right in front of the house & it is within walking distance to the downtown and the Bay. Our first night we walked there just in time for the sunset. The only negative is the Wi-fi is a bit spotty. I was surprised to get real door keys instead of a code for a keypad but it made sense once I saw how historic the house is. It would not be right to install that there. Overall, I would highly recommend!

The property is an older single family home that is very comfortable and has been very well updated throughout. Of particular note was the exceptionally updated and outfitted kitchen...a vast array of pots/pans/lids as well as dining and serving utensils; knives; cleaning materials; etc. A highlight was that the property had a professional look of holiday decorations which was much appreciated. A property that is highly recommended also for its proximity to the community's downtown and beach. One concern was the rental manager's unreasonable insistence on a photo copy of the renter's driver's license and a photo immediately taken to compare with that of on the license! This requirement exposes the renter to unnecessary potential circulation of personal data.

Cannot say enough good things about this house! An original Sears Kit home with ALLL THE CHARM! The master bed was very comfortable and the shower had amazing pressure! The neighborhood is beautiful and quiet and the fenced in back yard was great for our dog! BOOK IT!

Adorable cottage in prime location

This adorable historic Sears kit home is cozy and comfortable. The location is great- just a few blocks to the beach and to Mason Ave shops, so the whole town is walkable. It’s right across from the park and playground. One of the only negatives was that the master bedroom is very bright at 6 am (no blackout curtains), so this is a house for morning people. I would stay here again.

Our favorite quick getaway

This is our second time staying in Cape Charles and we loved this little cottage. Great location right on the big green/park area so our kids (11 & 9) could easily go out and roam around on their own. The outdoor furniture was pretty filthy when we took off the covers, but the property management was so nice to come over and really quickly work out a solution so we could enjoy the back deck. Beds were very comfortable (which is always hit or miss at a rental). We love Cape Charles and this was such a sweet little hideaway - we will definitely be back!

Quirky meets modern

The cottage was in a perfect location and amenities were good. However, it was not clean. One toilet was broken and the after-hours contact did not work. Once the office was open all was taken carroff. . The ladies in yhe office eere very helpful and friendly.

Our family of 4 with 2 young children enjoyed our stay in Cape Charles, especially the park access and front porch! The space worked really well for us overall. Our only 2 complaints were zero communication in response to inquiries in advance of our stay (both through vrbo and the property manager's email directly) and the HVAC system should be serviced.

Best place to stay!

We absolutely loved our stay at the Hummingbird Cottage. It was so well located, right on the park, 5 minute walk to main drag (Mason Street), and 5 minute walk to the beach. The house is perfect for a family of four. The one level, open concept floor plan made watching the kids easy while we cooked and cleaned. We loved that we could walk right out and take our kids to the playground or a walk around the park. The house is also so adorable. Every room was nicely decorated. They really thought of every cute little detail. It was a very nice mix of modern and antique like touches. The kitchen had modern appliances and was a pleasure to cook dinner in. We loved sitting on the back porch at night and our kids loved running around the little backyard. There is a grill to use but we didn’t end up using it during our stay. If you visit Cape Charles and have a small family I highly recommend you stay at the Hummingbird cottage. You won’t regret it!

Quaint and cozy cottage

Right away, we were impressed with the cleanliness and the tasteful style, making this feel more like a home than a rental. It felt very cozy and intimate, perfect for our family with little kids. The location across the park and near the playground was a plus. As was being four short blocks from the beach and Main Street. The house was really well stocked with extra paper goods, and the kitchen had all the knives, pots, bowls, dishes and glasses one would ever need. We will be back next year!

Best Location in Cape Charles!

Perfect spot for a family with small children. You are right across from Central Park that has a great playground, and easy walking distance to downtown. We stayed there in the winter so didn’t go to the beach but there is a gas fireplace inside so it was ideal. Kitchen is well stocked (bring your own seasonings and oils). They have cable and good wifi but you’ll need to use your own devices to watch Netflix, Hulu, etc.

Fantastic stay

We enjoyed staying at the Hummingbird! What a great location right across from the park. It’s walking distance everywhere but we still rented a golf cart for the fun. Perfect trip with teens. We enjoyed the house’s decor, board games and comfy beds. Thanks!

Adorable and Cozy Cottage

We loved our stay at Hummingbird Cottage! It is adorable and character-filled, with high ceilings and bright and fresh decor. Beds were super comfy, and it served as a great home base for lots of adventures in the area throughout the week. We loved the deck and backyard area, and the shed was super handy for storing our bikes and beach gear. Kitchen worked well for preparing meals and snacks. All in all, it was a fabulous stay for a family of four, and we would definitely return. Thank you!!

Perfectly renovated bungalow

This beach bungalow was the perfect size for a family with one or two children. The location right on the park was ideal and it was walking distance to all the charming vendors as well as the beach.
