I don't know how many times I have to repeat in my reviews that the most important parts of a hotel stay are pretty much when the guest arrives, and when they leave. A bad experience at departure tarnishes even the best stay.
In truth, this is a nice hotel - but although we got a weird email from the hotel the day before we arrived, they didn't bother to tell us (1) that it would be a good idea to book dinner [by the time we arrived they were full] and (2) that there would be a charge for using the swimming pool even though it is featured in the publicity photos and no extra charge is mentioned in the listing.
So when we left and we were charged EUR 100 extra for swimming twice in the pool, I was (justifiably) angry. Adding insult to injury it took about half an hour to check out.
My advice: if you're going to stay, make sure you check on the extras because that was like 50% of the cost of the entire stay for us, as an unexpected "bonus". These sorts of charges are despicable.
