Amazing!
Richard is an amazing host. He answered all of my questions while he himself was dealing with a crisis. The house was immaculate, gorgeously decorated and met all of our expectations! I would recommend to anyone visiting Salem to try and get this house!

September Family Vacation
We love Salem and for this trip the weather was perfect and the house was perfect. We loved lounging in the sun room. The location was perfect for walking to all attractions. Loved our stay.

Great Home for a Big Family Celebration
We were looking for a home that could accommodate my extended family for a weekend that culminated in my son’s graduation from Tuft’s. Close to everything Salem has to offer, this gracious historic home with the fabulous sunroom is thoughtfully appointed and the kitchen/bedrooms/bathrooms had everything we needed. Rich was excellent with communication. He met us at the home when we arrived and we toured the home together while he educated us on its history. He also gave us some very helpful advice about negotiating Logan airport because some of us were arriving late Friday, or recommending nearby restaurants. Check out was easy. We had two Octogenarians in our group and the 2nd floor rooms accommodated them well. We did not have any family members under the age of 21. Everybody enjoyed the home. Salem is such an interesting and vibrant town. It was a wonderful weekend. Highly recommended. Thanks, Rich!

Great location
I hosted a witchy themed bachelorette at Rich’s. The property fit 10 of us comfortably, it was perfectly located in a beautiful neighborhood 10 minutes walking to downtown. Rich was very responsive and the check in was quick, easy, and ahead of schedule.

Fabulous Halloween tri.
This was the PERFECT place for our visit to Salem for Halloween. Very quiet, quaint, old residential street. About a half mile walk to the hubbub of the downtown festivities. Lots of trick-or-treat kiddos that we enjoyed handing out candy to.

Perfect Home for Wedding Weekend ❤️

Stately home in quiet historic neighborhood
We rented the home during a wedding for my siblings in their 70s and some of their adult children. They aboslutely loved staying there. The neighborhood is within walking distance of all the Salem craziness but well insulated from it on Salem's oldest historic residential street.The home is 200 years old with some quirks but with a modern kitchen and bath facilities, appointed with traditional furniture in comfortable spaces. There is no central A/C, but there are plenty of fans and enough window units to make sleeping comfortable. Rich is a very accomodating host and could not have been easier to communicate with. It is a home, not just a house, and my family was honored to share it.

Prettiest street in Mass.
Beautiful historic home is a great walk-to location.11 of us slept comfortable, although we had an additional 8 for catered dinner one night. An 1810 house obviously doesn't have center a/c but many fans were available and we managed during a heat wave.

Good location in a historic home
We were so excited about this home — on a famous street, large enough for our family and walking distance to absolutely everything. It does not have air conditioning and it took us approx 24 hours to get the house to cool down with fans. The coffee pot was not cleaned and was growing mold so thank goodness for Grubhub and Instacart to deliver coffee and needed food easily. The house is packed with the owners items. But overall the house was in a good Location and we were on the go most of the time sightseeing in the neat town. We did love the historic ness of it all and my kids loved it!

Sibling reunion
The property was lovely and clean. It was just a short walk to down town witch tour as great. The small children in our party a good at listening so I worked out good even though there are valuables everywhere. So if your children are prone to destructing things maybe not a good option. Loved the place!!

Rich was incredibly responsive and helpful with any inquiries we had. the house is massive, beautiful, and located within walking distance to everything we wanted to do. While the price was steep, it was certainly convenient!

Great Historical Mansion
This house was absolutely perfect! On chestnut street which was adorable with mansions from the 1900s lining the street! The house is HUGE and can fit a big group with no problem. Walkable distance to downtown/essex street. Host was extremely friendly and responsive. Would definitely recommend

Immaculate historical property
This place was massive and feels like a museum … think Downton Abbey! Great neighborhood … easy to walk to downtown and the hop on trolley stopped steps away from the house. Great place for a huge family reunion and Rich was a great host.

Salem Family Fun!
We had 2 of our children from California and the grandkids home for a family reunion for both sides of our family. Richard was a great host and called me ahead of time to give me a heads up on restaurants and attractions. Later in the week, Richard joined us on the back patio and gave us incredible information about the history of the house. This house is much larger than it looks like online. Bedrooms are huge and a very well equipped kitchen made our visit just like home. Thanks Richard. Next time we come back to Boston we will be sure to stay here again!

A lesson in American history
This is far more than a rental house it is a step back in history. If you're looking for something special and unique there's nothing better than 41 Chestnut. It is a true educational experience starting from the furnishings to most of all the library with books that would take you years to read. The owner Richard is a great communicator and was an outstanding host. He even stopped by to see how everything was going and took us for a stroll down Chestnut Street giving us an education on the area. I would highly recommend the property for anyone that's is looking for more than just a place to stay but an experience. Wayne & Laura

Beautiful home and welcoming, accommodating owner
12 members of my family (8 adults, 4 children ages 6mos — 5yrs) recently stayed at Rich’s property for a family reunion. The home is even more beautiful than in pictures, and I was a little worried when I walked into a property full of authentic period antiques. But Rich was very kind (and pointed out that he’d raised three children there himself), and also indicated which items were particularly fragile so we could make sure they were out of the children’s reach. The backyard was particularly beautiful, and we made great use of it and were able to grill. I would highly recommend this large, comfortable, gorgeous property, and am so grateful to Rich for the opportunity to stay there.

Wonderful Family Stay

Good times were had by all

Absolutely perfect!
This place is a gem! Located in walking distance to every great spot in Salem. My friends and I could not ask for a better place! The owner was great to deal with, and even though he could not come meet us, was always able to answer questions and always in contact. It is situated on a quiet and historical block. The house was old but well kept. You would never guess it was built in 1810! Absolutely beautiful! We felt so spoiled staying Here that I couldn’t imagine staying else where in Salem. We were so sad to check out and we hope to be back again!

Great place to stay, close to downtown
House was perfect size for 12 people, nice neighborhood, 10 to 15 mins walking from downtown. Rich is a great host, friendly, reliable and easy going. Would stay there again and I do highly recommend staying there. It's a mansion how can you say no. P.S. price was very reasonable.

Beautiful Historic Home
This house was absolutely gorgeous! It was the perfect place to stay for our wedding, which was just a couple blocks away. Our group absolutely loved the staircase. The house was decorated beautifully and was very clean! We also enjoyed sitting in the solarium and looking out at the cute garden in the backyard. Rich was easy to communicate with during our stay. Would highly recommend staying here if visiting Salem with a group!

Beautiful property and location
The house is very well maintained and is located on a quiet historical street that was close enough to downtown to make walking easy and convenient. The home is filled with antiques, which made me a little nervous but the back sun room made up for it and is where we spent most of our time. The rooms were incredibly spacious and the house is large enough that no one was tripping over anyone else. The only thing that I wish the property had were some fans or air conditioning. We had to keep the windows open at night or it got too hot, which allowed in street noise at night.

Absolutely beautiful property
Right in the heart of chestnut st and so close to all the amazing sites. Beautiful house, and decorations that I would be weary of having a small children around. Great house for accomadating a large group of adults visiting town.

Thank you for your kind comments. I raised three children from birth in this house, and they and the decor survived just fine :-) I even kept some of their old toys around for guests to play with, and as long as they are reasonably respectful, children are welcome here anytime.

Perfect Family Gathering!
Huge Thank you to Rich for opening your home to our family! WE had our first family reunion in over 30 years in Marblehead and this was the perfect home for a few of our family members to meet up afterwards to unwind and reconnect! Gorgeous home with complete amenities to meet your family needs. Fabulous close location to restaurants, cafes, and sightseeing activities! Rich has been fabulous to work with. Extremely communicative from Day 1 of reserving his home. Flying in from California, Rich was flexible in our check-in time to make it easier on us (which was greatly appreciated)! He alerted us of local events that were occurring in the neighborhood/city and checked in with us regularly during out stay to ensure we had all that we needed. Could not have asked for a better host. We had an Amazing Family Reunion and Rich's home was an amazing home away from home for a few days! Thank you Rich!!!

Beautiful house for a large crowd very near town
We had a wonderful weekend in this beautiful house on a lovely historic street, and Rich was an excellent host. Plenty of space for 10-12 of us, plus other guests for dinner. It is a short walk to town for all the shops, attractions and restaurants of Salem.
