We booked a 2 month stay. Very little information on the listing but we were familiar with the location (stayed at other units here many times) No introductory email prior to our arrival. After three emails received the address and ‘key is under the mat’. Security desk was unaware we were coming and held us up while they reached owner to procure required paperwork. Key was under the mat but unit was a mess- not cleaned after previous guests. We had to vacate several times for work to be done. It was obvious there hadn’t been a deep cleaning in some time.
We requested repairs to two faucets and the garbage disposal (they were leaking so badly that water was pooling on counters and in cabinets). Requested cleaning and pest control for bugs in the house and black widows in garage.
Surface cleaning, pest control and plumbing was done. He reimbursed us for some Lysol wipes and cleaning supplies, but not all.
I spent hours cleaning cabinets, walls, doors, and the sticky cabinet handles and door pads that had exploded from heat and replaced them (75).
Once the main issues were resolved we were able to enjoy our time in Borrego. We left the place in much better shape than we found it and suggested some much needed cleaning and repairs. We hope he at least really cleans the carpet and adjusts cabinet doors for the next renter. Carpet (especially in the bathroom) is disgusting.
He was responsive but sarcastic, then dismissive.
