Beautiful desert hideaway
Simple but lovely and comfortable house on the edge of town with enormous windows on all sides looking out at the spectacular mountains a short distance away. Terrie is a gracious and responsive host. We're planning to come back.

Everyone had a great time!
All of us really enjoyed our stay at the Poppy House. First of all, if you love the desert, Borrego Springs is really enjoyable. We went four-wheeling, biking, sight-seeing, took a trip to the Salton Sea, etc. The house is really comfortable with a mid-century vibe. We especially enjoyed the very large and accommodating living room and kitchen area with floor to ceiling windows. It feels like you're outside even when you're inside. From the living room we watched rabbits, jack rabbits and roadrunners galore scurrying around the property. The mountain views are really impressive too. The house was very clean when we arrived and was equipped with everything we needed for our stay. We all agreed that the beds were very comfortable. Terrie, the host, was very accommodating and easy to communicate with. This was my first VRBO rental and it was a really great experience all the way around.

Relaxing week in perfect home
The house was just beautiful and exactly met our needs. The location was perfect. Such amazing views and so many different areas surrounding the home to enjoy them. The pool and hot tub were big favorites for the kids. Brand new grill was much enjoyed. I will look to stay only there whenever we return.

Desert Dream
Desert Poppy House was the perfect vacation home for our trip to see the Anza-Borrego wildflowers. The home was spacious, clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. There’s a welcoming hot tub and pool for relaxing after a long day of hiking. And the location can’t be beat! Close to the Visitor’s Center, restaurants, and markets. We also enjoyed sitting outside at night under a million stars. Hope to visit again.

Great family trip!
Had a wonderful time and despite the cold, we enjoyed the pool and hot tub. The kitchen and living room were spacious, comfortable and the windows allow lots of enjoying the light and wildlife. Very close to downtown Borrego and Anza Borrego visitor center. Very responsive host!

Gorgeous desert home
Terrie's Poppy House is an AMAZING desert property. You won't believe how beautiful the setting is ... completely surrounded by snow-capped mountains. The house is very roomy, and is gorgeous inside furnished with beautiful mid-century furniture and tasteful decorating. The views of the desert out of the many floor to ceiling windows make this place one of a kind. There is also hiking all over the Anza-Borrego Desert and several restaurants just a few minutes away. We enjoyed our stay at Terrie's house immensely. Terrie was 100% attentive to any questions we had. This place is a gem.

Bright and comfy house with stellar location and views
The house features a comfy and spacious great room and well-equipped kitchen, perfect for our group of three couples. There are multiple outside seating areas from which to take in the fabulous views. Location was terrific: on a dead-end road adjacent to the state park and close enough to walk to town. The host was friendly and responsive. We would certainly book again!

New year week
The poppy house was a fantastic place to enjoy the desert and Anza Borrego State Park! The huge windows in every room, especially the living room, make you feel like you're enjoying the outdoors even when cozy by the fire. House was clean and comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. The hot tub was also fantastic! We had a great stay and will definitely return to enjoy the house again in the future.

Thanksgiving vacation with family
The stay was very pleasant. The home is well situated and in a “dark skies” town so the night sky is amazing from the backyard. Kitchen is well stocked with utensils, dishes etc. overall a great home to stay in!

Cozy and close to park
Beautiful area and close to the park! Cozy house with lots of places to sit and watch the birds and desert life. The pool was great and the kitchen was great for cooking with friends! Terri was a great host and helped us out with a couple minor things. Wonderful place— I will definitely be returning!

Great Desert Location
Perfect location, walking distance from State park and hiking trails. House is light and bright, with windows and sliders everywhere, and perfectly oriented for watching the sunrise over the eastern mountains. Hot tub was great; with the late-rising moon we sat out and lost ourselves in the universe overhead. Property was clean, the host was very communicative and helpful. We cooked each night and the kitchen had everything we needed. Great place, perfect stay.

Poppy House perfection!
Poppy House is a mid-century gem! Terri the host was wonderful, very communicative and accommodating. The house is not new construction but is a beautiful, vintage, desert paradise. The hot tub is new and sparkling and the beds are super comfortable. The color scheme of the house is gorgeous and it was the perfect restful escape from Los Angeles. Our two teenagers adored it and we love all of the little touches around the house. The blue kitchen is well-equipped for a weekend stay. We played lots of chess and hot-tubbed under the pink moon. It was a nice walk to the shops and to trails. The house is well-situated to be private and yet close to everything we needed. We watched movies and read and cooked and hiked and even enjoyed a dip in the pool. The casita is adorable. All around we had a wonderful Easter long weekend at the Poppy House and would highly recommend it!

Great Desert Getaway
A super property in a great location. The house is in great shape and is well equipped and appointed. Pool and hot tub are both wonderful. The A/C works great, which is nice when you get desert weather. Really handy location near town and the park visitor center but feels like you’re out in the desert. Highly recommended.

Beauty Surrounds You
We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Borrego. The house was relaxing, well stocked and accessible to Borrego’s shops and restaurants. After a long day of hiking we liked to relax by the pool and view the beautiful sunset. We often were serenaded by the coyotes and visited by a local roadrunner. Overall, a five star experience.

Wonderful House with Incredible Views
Borrego Springs is a wonderful place, and this house made it even more special. The MCM house with expansive glass provides 180+ degree views of the mountains and valley, and brings the outside in. I highly recommend it.

Best of Borrego
The location--with its desert surround--is the perfect setting to highlight the sights and sounds of the Anza Borrego region. The house was spotless, well appointed, up to date and very comfortable. Easy communication with the host, we felt well supported and looked after. Great walking in the nearby neighborhoods and, of course, up into the Park. The perfect winter getaway from northern cold and gloomy skies.

Excellent and comfortable stay!
Hubby and I booked this as an isolated retreat for New Year's Eve 2021-22. We had a great time at Poppy House as most reviewers have already said; I will list the particulars which impressed me personally. 1) It was immaculate. There was not a SPECK of dust anywhere. The cleaning crew must be OCD. I came prepared to wipe everything down with anti-Covid wipes, but stopped halfway through because everything was squeaky clean 2) The Queen bed was 12" foam on a box spring, new, and was EXTREMELY comfortable. We slept exceptionally well. 3) Good fast internet. 4) Lots of "real" furniture in the living to be couch potatoes on. 5) FULLY equipped kitchen for cooking ANYTHING you'd need and enough dishware to serve it on. 6) Hot tub was new and hot with good jets and 7) The views, the views, the views and the isolation. The house felt homey but not gross-doily-homey like someone lived there. Keep in mind, the main house has only one shared bathroom and two queen beds, if that makes a difference. The casita is cute, but not much use as a couple; but for two couples, or families with older kids, it would be a dream. It was briskly cold while we were there; I imagine in the warmer on-season months, the outdoor area is fantastic. The owner was fast-as-lightning responsive and charming. Book it.

Desert serenity
The Poppy Desert House was an amazing place to spend the week of Thanksgiving. Borrego Springs is a small town in the middle of Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, and the house is at the end of one of the roads in town, but it feels like it is right on the far edge with the desert spreading out in front of you. The house is lovely, designed to take full advantage of the expansive views. There are multiple spots to sit and enjoy the vistas, both outside and inside, where the main rooms seem to have walls of glass. We took full advantage of the outdoor space, eating all of our meals at the table on the patio. We alternated between the gas grill and the charcoal grill for our meals. We sat by the pool every afternoon after hiking, enjoying the hot tub in the final hour of dusk every day. Each night was built a fire in the stove/fire pit and sat next to it enjoying the dark skies, filled with stars. There are amazing hikes very close by, including the Palm Canyon Trail and the Hellhole Canyon Trail, both of which we walked to from the house. We had Thanksgiving dinner at Coyote Steak House, just a five minute walk from the house. Terrie, our host, is absolutely fantastic. She checked in with us a couple of times to assure we had everything we needed and answered every question we had very quickly. She has assured the house is stocked with everything you could need. It is a really warm, comfortable place, and we can't wait to return.

Great Getaway!
Poppy House is a great getaway - the house has all the essentials you need and having direct access to the pool (especially in the hot desert heat!) and hot tub is key. This was a moms and kids getaway and everyone had fun...the kids enjoyed the wide open outdoor area and the moms enjoyed the ability to hang out at all of the great indoor and outdoor lounging areas. The property is very conveniently located to the "main" road in Borrego and close to other areas which allowed us to easily get out and about and explore Ram's Hill (for dinner one evening) and the desert sculptures. Terrie as our host was EXTREMELY communicative and responsive to any questions we had. Highly recommend Poppy House as a fun, low-key desert getaway!!

Beautiful relaxing space!
Such an amazing space! We went for 5 days for my hubby’s bday and invited some friends. Was the perfect set up! The casite was great for my friend who needed to do some work while we were there on holiday. Just a step from the rest of the house! The pool and hot tub were just perfect! We saw some great animals and beautiful sunsets. We have some adventures into the park also! This house has everything you need! BIG props foe the in the spice rack! We made a lot of amazing meals. Plenty of post and pans and even a ninja blender for smoothies! We will for sure be back! 💖💖💖💖💖

What a great get-away
My wife and I rarely sneak away together... This weekend, we dropped the kids at grandma's and took the short drive (From Julian) to Borrego Springs and wow! What a nice time; it was exactly what we needed. There wasn't much we wanted to do so the Poppy house was perfect. Neflix and chill interrupted by floats in the pool during the day and chilling in the hot tub at night! A casual walk over to the Coyote Steak House and a short drive from Carlees and Red Ocotillo for a nice meal. Everything was great and we'll be back because there is so much space we wanna bring the kids to the pool!

Oasis in the desert!
So enjoyed staying in this charming midcentury house. Amazing views from everywhere, inside and out. Great location. Close to the park and town, but also lots of privacy and unobstructed views of the desert. Overall a great home base to both relax and explore the area!

Beautiful Getaway
We stayed here in late March 2021. The property is absolutely beautiful and very tastefully decorated! The kitchen is well equipped and there wasn't anything that we needed that wasn't provided. We stayed with two small children who loved running around the property and exploring. It would have been nice if the pool was heated as it was very cold but the kids didn't care! Would stay here again!

Great family house
We had three generations, six people for a week and this house was a great place for us. Grandpa and teenager shared the casita and the two couples had the queen bedrooms in the main house. Great desert walks straight from the door, loved the jacuzzi. Pool was still cool in March. The owner has Netflix and we found the wifi to work well for us. The boys all liked the outdoor toilet! The location is just great and it's on a very big, private lot against the mountains.

Lovely desert getaway
The property is exactly as described and is just an all around beautiful space. The owner, Terrie, reached out in advance providing her phone number should anything come up during our stay. That was both welcoming and reassuring so thank you, Terrie! We will surely bookmark the Poppy House for a future visit.

Great Place. Perfect Location
We were three adults. A lot of privacy. Perfect location. Great access to the park and wonderful walks right outside the front door. I loved it.

Home away from home
This was our second stay at the Poppy House and we will be back. It's a great location in a super quiet neighborhood with beautiful views and easy access to desert trails. The house is a fun mid-century style with everything you need to feel at home. We cook all our meals here, enjoy the numerous windows when inside, the pool and hot tub are great, and the mattress is super comfy. Highly recommend.

The Poppy House is the perfect get away!
The property owner and manager were very attentive to any and all questions we had. The house was very clean and well stocked with the essentials. There are several patios to enjoy the gorgeous views. We enjoyed the spa for star gazing. We enjoyed several restaurants there. The people are very friendly. Whether you go to relax or plan activities the Poppy House has it all. We are looking forward to our next visit.

Hi Nancy, I have a hard time deciding where to sit when I just want to enjoy a cup of coffee and the view. Glad you enjoyed the patios also. I enjoy cooking on the BBQ but it is also great that there are many good restaurants in Borrego to enjoy especially when I have had a day of hiking or I just do not want to cook that evening.
