Set off on a stroll to Stock Ghyll Force (1 mile), so see this thundering 70-foot-tall waterfall. Make sure you cross the top bridge, so you can enjoy the incredible views over the falls below. Hit the water in a kayak at Bowness-on-Windermere (6.5 miles) to explore England's longest lake; or head into Hawkshead (3 miles) to admire its whitewashed cottages and learn all about author Beatrix Potter.



Step inside your country retreat and kick off your shoes in the boot room.
