The door locks were horrible about the only key that would work in them was the pass key. It took an hour to get checked into the room. The second room was a little better. The lock was horrible.

Best motel in Alliance by far.
Nice clean motel, great room, very clean. Great breakfast, one of the best motels we've stayed at.

Needs Some Work
Stayed for a family event in Alliance. Hotel was fair, but for the rate a little disappointed. The elevator was broken, the pool was out of service. Breakfast was fair. Overall clean hotel, but upkeep on repairs etc needs to be addressed. Again, for the rate, disappointing. I have paid less for better hotels.

Breakfast was good. Room was ok. It had a weird smell and the sink drained very slow. The shower head is not great. The staff was very nice and helpful.

Nice town
Alliance is an interesting little town. Check out the fountain and the wildlife refuge. Holiday Inn was fine. Good breakfast.

Road trip from Cali to the Midwest
Stopped here to see Carhenge enroute to Mt Rushmore. This hotel seems brand new for such a small little town in the midst of miles of farms. Nice pool, very clean comfortable room and beds. A little pricy for this area. We had to book online because all rooms when we called direct were sold out. Also hotel staff knocked on our door at 8 am to see if we were still there? Then shampooed the carpets right outside our door. Kinda noisy. We were up but if one wanted to sleep in past 8 you might be irritated. Otherwise would highly recommend this place. Townspeople we met were super nice.

The room was nice with lots of space, clean, a fridge, pool and hot tub (though we didn't use). The breakfast was typical for this type of hotel. The neighborhood was near the highway but little or no ambiance. The negative was we could hear nearly everything in the next room through the suite door (and they got up at 6am).

We were disappointed that the hotel staff closed the indoor pool due to inclement weather. When the weather had passed the pool remained closed for the night. It was disappointing.

Not up to HIE standards
This is definitely not your usual Holiday Inn Express. It appears to be an older and moderately run-down motel that has been re-branded HIE. The room was OK, and breakfast was acceptable, but the facilities and staff fall well short of the usual HIE standard. And did I mention the price? Zowie! Outrageous highway robbery! My advice is to plan your trip to avoid spending the night in Alliance, as this HIE is practically the only game in town.

Pleasant stay
I stayed in Alliance two nights for business - snow/icy weather prohibited much travel during my stay there. The room was typical, the staff very pleasant, the walls rather thin because I could hear one neighbor pretty well. The breakfast was extensive (bacon! sausage! eggs!) but it was heavily microwaved .. but, hey, at least they tried.

Good Choice in a limited choice area
The facilities seemed a little older, but well-maintained and very clean. The staff was super friendly and helpful, even leaving a nice little welcome note in our room! the breakfast had lots of variety and tasted good and the lady taking care of the breakfast was fantastic - very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. I thought the price was very expensive though. However, since the options in town are very limited and there is nothing else for miles around, that is not surprising.

The hotel staff was close to incompetent with the exception of the maintenance and cleaning staff. The "automatic" breakfast seems like a decent concept but the lack of space organization along with the incompetence of the breakfast staff manager, I would say. The employee managing breakfast worked hard to keep up but there was never any help or offer of help from other staff or management. It truly was ridiculous!

Perfect for our stop
We stopped here on our way south. The room was a good size, the bed was comfortable and it was clean. Breakfast was good and had a wide selection.

The hotel is a convenient stop-over on the way to or from the Black Hills. It is just off 385, and there are numerous restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. The hotel is clean and well-maintained. The morning breakfast is very nice -- perfect for travelers who want a solid breakfast to start the day.

The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The staff was wonderful very helpful. The food was very good and the little dinner in the evening was great if you did not feel like going out you had dinner right there. I will stay there again. And they have a inside pool and hot tub which is a plus.

The building looked nice
The room was not as clean as I expected and there was still coffee in our coffee pot. The pool was nice and the staff were very nice as well.

Nicest motel in Alliance
The fastest, easiest check-in I've experienced. The room was clean and nicely decorated. The bed was really comfortable and the hotel was not noisy, even with a youth baseball team staying there. Breakfast was great. The hotel is easy to find and close to restaurants. While this is the priciest hotel in town, this one won't leave you second-guessing your choice.
