"It was very difficult to find a location for this accommodation before arriving. The only internet location we had been able to find, was incorrect. We had to phone the number provided then pay someone to lead us there. The sitting area was nice and there was plenty of ventilation. In a mosquito area, there were no flyscreens on the windows which meant windows had to be kept closed and the room was very stuffy and hot. There was no ceiling fan or air conditioning. "This place was a special place for us. The team at Karatu really were special who did out of their way to provide for us when there were issues, and when the first room seemed to have issues (shower drainage, bee hive on the roof, urine smell) they quickly changed the room to a better closer room, and always were helpful in arranging or finding different solutions for transportation issues etc. The place is located 2 hours from Arusha, and around 30 mins from the main gate for Ngorongoro crater....

"Overpriced substandard facilities. Freezing cold bedroom. Ugly architecture, dark and dingy. Dirty dark and cold bathroom. Window stained with dead bugs and dust. No heaters to compensate. Very depressing. No hot water. We were forced to to ask them to boil water and put it into buckets in order to wash ourselves by using an empty margarine container. Unheard of when we have paid £900 to be in this tacky facility worthy of a YMCA student accommodation Location of the property is very bad....

"Es un sitio estupendo y las instalaciones no defraudan. Es un buen sitio para dormir antes o después de visitar el cráter del ngorongoro. Lo mejor, está a 4 km de la carretera principal y el camino es accesible, otros lodges están mucho más aislados y se tardan más de 40 min en llegar por caminos horribles. En general, un sitio perfecto."

"Family 'room' was excellent. However, for a December visit a bathroom heater was sorely needed and towel bars for drying towels. Every resort should have a safety bar in shower for young or old!"

"We had a beautiful stay at Rhotia Valley Tented Lodge. The staff was wonderful and very kind, especially Jumo. A portion of the money from your stay goes to the children's home located next to the hotel, which you are able to visit while staying there. The area and view around the hotel are beautiful, however there is a bumpy uphill road to reach the hotel. The dining room is a beautiful space as well and we had a wonderful meal there! "
