Expected more for the money
The property was spacious and generally clean on the inside. The neighborhood was lovely. However, the outside of the home was messy and junk and other items appear to be stored on it (see photos). Pine needles were everywhere. I understand they fall from the trees, but there were so many even on our first day, that it was obvious no one attended to this. A quick sweep of the deck would have made a difference. There appeared to be deferred maintenance in various areas of the house. The fridge struggled to cool things and the ice maker worked only intermittently. The stove top burners required a hand-held lighter to ignite. Importantly, there were no window treatments in all 3 of the lake-facing bedrooms. This was a problem because there was a deck beyond those windows, so one lacked privacy in changing in a bedroom. We had to go into the bathroom to change. And the morning light streamed in those windows, making sleeping in, which some like to do on vacation, impossible. I personally had to sleep with a towel on my face to get extra shut eye. And no beach towels were provided in the home. I expected more from a home situated in such an upscale neighborhood and for the rental fees paid. Host communication was also not great. We asked for an 11:00 am check out the night before, as was indicated we would be allowed in the welcome binder. We did not get a reply. Instead, someone showed up to hurry us out around 10:30 am, which was abrupt and created a tremendous sense of urgency.
