Friendly and charming

Small, only 3 rooms, but really cosy! Well maintained and breakfast/welcome basket a delight, as was the fridge and microwave. The location was perfect and an easy stroll into town. The welcome blurb from the owner was accurate and showed an intimate knowledge of the area...definitely recommend it!

Fantastic stay at the camaraderie guest house

Lovely guest house in a quiet area but still close to York city centre. The room was cosy with a comfortable bed. We had teas and coffees, both with decaf, a mini fridge with milks, water and butter, a selection of cakes and scones and a bowl of fruit. Alex also left a book of useful information and places to visit in York. We also requested an early check in and to leave our car at the guest house on our last day past our check out time which Alex kindly agreed. In short we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and Alex was extremely friendly and accommodating. We would definitely go back and recommend Camaraderie guest house to others.

A hidden gem

A little gem of a guest house, all you could need for a comfortable stay. Beds were so comfy and Ashley was very helpful. His guide to your stay is worth a read offering lots of ideas for food, visits and taxis. Will definitely book again and recommend

Great location, easy to get to York centre and the road was quiet slept well both. Room 1 was great, en-suite, welcome goodies (fruit, pastries) mini fridge with water, yogurt and juice. Slippers, bathrobes, facilities to make tea/coffee and warm food. Will definitely stay again.

excellent location for walking to town as well as the university unfortunately there was a terrible odor in out room that persisted for the duration of the stay somewhere between mildew and sewage the proprietor could not smell it and despite the many different odor enhancements in the room - it was pervasive and my belongings picked up the smell - the proprietor reported no one has said this before and it may have been outside - but i could not appreciate that - it was only within iur room- also - there is no soundproofing- so you will hear every other guest entering/departing/etc that being said - it is in a very quiet part of town and quick walk through green space to the university as well as inexpensive, there is safe on street parking, and I will like book again when i visit family attending the college

Lovely few days aways to.coinside.with york university open day . About a 20 min walk to The Shambles. 15 min walk to the uni . 3 car park spaces for each of the rooms . If my daughter does go to York university i will deff be returning .

What a hidden gem. Great place to base yourself and immerse in York’s rich history. The guest house is a short, easy 15-min walk into the city centre, even in rain it didn’t feel that far. Flat, no hills! The room was clean, cosy, well-appointed, including a small fridge, bowl of fruit and breakfast snacks. The ensuite was spacious with shower over the bath. Happily recommend.

Room not huge, but very well fitted out with everything you'd usually need for a short stay and the shower room/loo was lovely. Directions offered were spot on although for folks like us arriving at night, perhaps a extra sign on the outside gates would be helpful. Easy access to town whether walking or by bus and hotel parking was easy too. Recomended to anyone.

Ashley was a wonderful host, so helpful and hand written info in your room . So convenient for York, walk, bus, or taxi. Room was very warm, so much in your room, with complimentary drinks, croissants and scones with jam and butter. Would stay there again.

Great place to stay

Only have positive things to say. Excellent comunicstion from owners with clesr instructions. Room and en suite was spotlessly clean. Complimentary snacks available in roo lm and a very helpful things-to-do guide. Local area has good shops and places to eat. Nice and quiet neighbourhood, convenient place for both university and city.

Friendly, clean & accommodating!

I stayed at the Camaraderie Guest House from Fri 6th - Sun 8th October 2023 as a solo traveller. I received an email and text message from the host prior to arrival, outlining details on the location, how to get there & where my keys could be found. The keys are kept in a lock system outside the main entrance, each designated to each guest room & with it's own code. This was extremely helpful to use when I was out in York & I didn't have to worry about where to store or keep hold of the door key! The property is situated on Kilburn Road, and is about a 10-15 minute walk into the city centre. The room was spacious, clean and renovated to a high standard. The room had it's own on-suite, and complimentary toiletries were supplied. Although there was no breakfast service, complimentary offerings were supplied in the room such as fresh fruit, breakfast goods such as croissants, tea & coffee, yoghurts and water. The room was situated on the second floor at the rear of the house, however, Kilburn Road is residential, so it had a quiet, welcoming, suburban feel. Car parking is situated to the side of the property on the corner of Kilburn Road & Edgeware Road. There is enough parking for 3 vehicles. Overall, I am extremely happy with my stay, and I would recommend it to friends and family. If I return to the York area, I would once again stay at the Camaraderie Guest House.
