Overall, the house served our purpose, which was spending quality time with the family. However, this was the only coast house we’ve ever rented without a deck/patio. That was sorely missed! There wasn’t a lovely spot to enjoy morning coffee and/or evening drinks while watching and listening to the ocean waves. Instead, there was the sound of the highway. Sadly, this property is literally on Hwy 101 so keeping windows open at night (I usually love to listen to the ocean while at the coast) only brought in the sounds of trucks, motorcycles and speeding cars. There is an “ocean view”, but not beach or waves, which is really what most are envisioning when they seek out a rental at the coast.
The separate family room was excellent for our teenagers to sequester themselves in (and the pocket door was great!). We appreciated the baby gate so we could block off the stairs from our elderly dog. The kitchen had what we needed. There were several “camping” chairs in the garage that we took to the backyard to enjoy some sunshine.
Again, the house was totally fine for hanging out inside with the windows closed (oh! Room darkening curtains would be much appreciated!), but not what we were looking for in a beach vacation home.
